DXVA movie (PAL) deinterlacing
madshi
Please have a look at this sample http://dl.dropbox.com/u/43376972/Mov...nterlacing.mkv This is SD PAL movie (film content) in .mkv container. If it is DXVA deinterlaced, we have a lot of shimmering and little movements (look at white roof and the combaine). If DXVA deinterlacing is off (plain weaving?), picture is very stable. AMD\5750\11.6\W7\Madvr MPEG-2 decoder Can anybody confirm? Edit: Changed decoder to Cyberlink 10 and now OSD says "upstream filter says deinterlacing off" and picture is OK (with Madvr and LAV decoders I have "upstream filter says deinterlacing on"). When manually switched to "deinterlacing on" (cntrl+alt+shift+d), picture is OK Last edited by nlnl; 12th November 2011 at 21:22. |

nlnl,
I've just tried your sample and it works perfectly with LAV Video (Soft) and madVR deinterlacing=ON which exact version of madVR are you using? if you downloaded by any chance any of the test builds after the official v0.78 go back to the official one ... or probably to the last one mentioned in the post just above yours.

If its encoded as fake-interlaced, there is no good way to detect that.

What do you mean by fake-interlaced? Any PAL film content in DVD is fake-interlaced? And DXVA deinterlacer can not detect film content? Last edited by nlnl; 12th November 2011 at 22:34. |

Could be PAL telecine, i suppose.
Fake-interlaced refers to simply splitting a progressive frame into 2 fields and coding it like that - in what ever form.

When I paused the player with madVR 0.78 window (don't know about older version and I don't use exclusive mode), the MPCHC (tested on 3824) still uses 2-5% (Core i5-2400) on madVR thread. Is there something wrong? I'm using it with LAV Splitter and LAV Video 0.39.

first off i have managed to get perfectly smooth playback using just a standard ati card and no reclock, no drops at all according to MadVR, However using Reclock i do. so that leads me to my new problem how to get aac audio to work over HDMI(reclock was encoding it to ac3 or i was using ac3filter)
i tried setting the HDMI output to 5.1 and this works when using lavfilters but then all 2ch stuff just outputs on L&R only so no Prologic for that? how do you guys do it? |

You need to use ReClock with WASAPI output (or another renderer with WASAPI output, which don't really exist), only then HDMI will switch automatically between stereo and 5.1, and your receiver can apply its processing.

Another alternative is JRiver MC17. It has ReClock like abilities and has WASAPI mode for audio. I'm no longer using ReClock in my setup and relying on MC17 to keep things in sync. It works extremely well.

OK giving Reclock another go!
repeat frame with reclock goes from hours to seconds/minutes although i dont see the dropped frame counter moving which is weird As informed by Nev everything now works ok with hmdi set to 2ch in playback config setting will see how this pans out off subject i know but any idea why TMT only outputs 2ch into Reclock? only setting where i get sound is with mix to uncompressed audio? edit answering my own question TMT only sees what hdmi is set to 2o that explains why its 2ch. pity as it works well and smooth,. only way to get 5.1 without changing the hdmi setting is to use onboard sound card. works but stutters. damn are all these thing designed for it not to work? That would explain why it works so well. Sweet. I haven't been using ReClock for a while now. The Video Clock feature provides everything I need.

I'm eagarly awaiting for DVD playback to work with it in Win 7 and above (without DLL hacks).
If I'd known about MadVR I wouldn't have bought an upconverting DVD player when my old one broke down. I couldn't find a video player that gave me a satisfying picture on my HD display when I used my PC for DVD playback unless I used commercial DVD playback software, and they cost more than I spent on the upscaling stand-alone Sony player I ended up buying instead. But using MadVR with Zoom Player or MPC gives me a picture that easily rivals it. I'm not sure why Haali's didn't work. It's the picture render I was using for all my video files at the time and they looked great, but for some reason DVDs played back with Haali's looked very blurry.

No, but I have been following the convo in the "Open Source DirectShow DVD Navigator" thread. I was getting the impression the project discussed there was abandoned and everyone had gone off and done their own thing for individual players/media center frontends.
