Are the stuttering problems all fixed?

I have so far made 2 or 3 successful backups with DVD-RB and it looks great.
However, as I dont always have the time to watch the backups all the way through after burning I am concerned that the disks I am creating may have problems, namely the stuttering.

So my question is, are people still having the stuttering problem where there is no explanation, ie cheap media?

If not then I am happy to start using DVD-RB for my real backups, otherwise I will continue to test for now and use Shrink for my real backups.

And thanks again JDobbs for such an excellent app.

I think the major ones were reported killed with .40 and .42, but I'm waiting some new DVD+RW's to arrive (Tue.) before I can verify it personally.

I had problems with Matrix Revolutions and Pirates of the Carribean prior to .42 when I was testing RB. I just produced my final backups with .44 and they look great. No stutter.

I have problems with dvdrb versions from 0.40 to 0.44.
On my Philips dvd612 all movies stop at the beginning of the first chapter and then go directly to the second chapter.
On previous versions i haven't this problem.

I do still see a stutter or 2, but only on my Sony dvp-ns725, and it would be completely overlookable to the average person. the benefit of the high quality re-encoding outweighs it in some cases. I don't have a philips player to test, but I think Alex Z said something similar in the other stutter thread.

I had clear stuttering at all chapter points on the old .3x versions in my Norcent player. After having done 3 backups with .44 and .45, and watched them, the stuttering is completely gone (well I can still make my player stutter very slightly, but I have to fast-forward and rewind a few times through a chapter change, and this also happens on original DVDs, so it isn't DVD-RB.)

The only problem I noticed is the elapsed time/time remaining for chapters while I was testing is way out to lunch. It seems ok if I let the title play through from the start, but try forward/rewind a few times through a chapter change and things go whacky (10+ seconds error) until the next chapter starts. Probably just my cheap player though--the video plays perfectly.

Hello everyone,

I still have problems.

I'm using version Beta 0.45.
I tried to make a backup of "American History" Europe Region2 PAL, and I used a PS2 to watch the movie (It's not a media problem, I tried several) and I can only see the first seconds of each chapter going directly to the next chapter, and so on till the end of the movie.

One strange coincidence, the movie has a lot of cells ( there are more than 700 small m2v files ) although the movie has only +/- 1h:45 min.

What could be causing this??

Regards,

Fenix (or FJorgeR)

I have seen something like this before... look in the .D2V files in the D2vAvs folder in your working directory. Is there a D2V file where the runs of "2" go like this all the time:
Code:
7 0 16F3 2
7 0 1723 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
7 0 17C4 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 2

That is, a lot of single "2" on it's own line?

Although I stated that my stutter problems are gone, I do have a weird problem with chapter points. In my case the time does not change or skew but on some chapter points I can not "rewind" across the chapter.

When testing for stutter, I would rewind across the chapter point to carefully watch for each movie I did. Once the stutter problems were gone I noticed that on some chapter points (in Pirates, Matrix3) I could go from chap to chap, when I rewind the player would stop at the beginning of the chapter.

Tested again with version 0.46.

Guess what? The same result

I need to test it with the new version 0.47!
Then I will post the results
