Long time encoding

Hi All.
I am new at this.
I am trying to encode a film.
But it is taken me 7 Hours + is this about the norm?

I am using DVD2SVCD 1.1.0 Build 1, And TMPGEnc2.59.47.155.

Here's what my computer is.

CPU: AMD XP2200+.
Motherboard: ABIT AT7-MAX2.
Memory: 256MB DDR 300Mhz.
Hard Drive: IBM 60Gig ATA/133 7200Rpm.
Video Card: ABIT GeForce3 VIO 64MB.
Sound Card: On Board.

Can anyone help me to speed this up?

Thanks For Your Time.

Yes, it is about the norm. Just as ux-3 stated, itīs even a bit fast. The encoding time depends on your machine and on your settings. As you donīt have posted your logfile, we donīt know your settings. Thatīs why itīs hard to say, if it is in the norm. But with 7 hours for the whole process you can be quiet satisfied.

-under the frameserver - tab choose "simple resize"
-under the encoder-tab choose cce as your encoder, check CBR, uncheck create vaf file
-under the audio-tab uncheck "Autodetect Azid gain (2 pass)"

But note that this settings will reduce the quality of your encode.

greets, winxi

Video encoding is just, put very simple - tough. It's very demanding on a computer, and the result is that it takes a long time to do. 7 hours really isn't long at all, in fact I wish all my encodes were only 7 hours. I'm more accustomed to 40-60 hour encodes
