Subtitle Size

I am remuxing a dvd using rempeg2 and I want to keep the subtitles. I usually use the DVD Calculator from this website. I entered the all of the fields into the calculator, but I'm unsure of the size of the subtitles (since they're stripped from the vobs). I used subrip to extract them from the vobs and have a folder full of bitmaps, the I-author text file, and the s3conv file. The bitmaps weigh in at 261 MB. The scenarist file is a measley 860 kb. I used smartrippper to extract the rawsub and that is 2.13 MB. Which size should I use? I want to keep the highest bitrate possible. I am guessing that I should use the rawsub size. Someone please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks

From my experince, subs usually take only 20-30 megs. I would use the scenarist number to calculate your dvd. However, i think you should also leave an extra 70 megs for dvd info get added after remuxing.

For example:
m2v file = 3.87 gigs
ac3 file = .4 gigs
sub = 30 megs
dvd = info 70 megs

total is 4.37 gigs.
I use scenarist to remux. but i guess these numbers are also good for rempeg.

Well, yeah I use Scenarist to remux the m2v that I get with rempeg2. It is almost halfway done so I'm going to just let it finish and I'll find out the hard way. Thanks for your help though.

The rawsub is the size of the original subpicture stream. Extracted bitmaps are much larger, and, of course, the text file equivalent is much smaller.
