Help getting mpeg-2 elementary stream decoded.

Hello, I was wonderin' if someone could help me in decoding .m2v elementary streams in mpclassic. It seems like everything I try fails.

I'm sure I could fix it if I knew how to use graphedit, but I don't. I've an image that might shed some light on this subject.

For the firewall bound, can't you explain what the image shows in words as well?

Just install FFDSHOW and enable it for MPEG2 decoding.

How did you make the stream?

What version of MPClassic are you using?

Have you checked out the internal filters in MPC, under "options"?

1. with hcenc.
2. clsid's mpclassic, version 6.4.9.1.
3. yes, both under the vfw and video decoder configuration. They were initially disabled, but I set them to libavcodec and i'm still getting the same error.
MPClassic's telling me that the pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter, and then i'm getting what's in the image of the above post. I find it weird, since I can easily play MPEG-2 Program and Transport streams.
I've another image of how my machine's decoding MPEG-2 Transport stream files:

Graphedit can't even render the elementary stream.

I guess Dscaler doesn't decode mpeg-2 ES files?
(But I get the same thing with ffdshow too :P)

There should be an Mpeg Splitter on you system. In Graphedit look under Graph, Insert Filters, and look under Directshow.

No I don't see it. I only have a splitter for mpeg-4. Where can I obtain one for mpeg-2?

I had no luck in finding it. Can't you just copy it from your system32 folder and upload it? Or perhaps anyone else?

install / reinstall / update DirectX 9.0c March 2008.
Or DX10 if you're Vista.

Still didn't work, so Mpg2splt.ax must not be the mpeg-2 splitter, since it's not showing up in the list of directshow filters. I checked the file from my machine, and it says it was last modified the day I got my system, so I always had that file.

Now that I recall, I remember deleting it one day (like, over a year ago) with directshow filter manager by accident, and ever since then, mpeg-2 es haven't worked. I guess it's just a lost cause.

Use Directshow Manager to register the file, then reboot.
