Thank you for creating this awesome player! I don't know what I'd do without it.
With the latest release, 2499, I was astonished to find that my Radeon 5850 now uses DXVA for profile 5.1 h.264 files. I've tried it on a 1080p video with 8 ref frames, and another 1080p video with 13 ref frames. It's a miracle! On my Radeon 5450-equipped HTPC, however, DXVA still only works with normal DXVA-compatible videos. 1080p, profile 4.1, with 4-5 reference frames. It won't do 1080p profile 5.1 with 8 reference frames like the 5850 will. Both PCs are using the same catalyst drivers, 10.8. Any idea why the Radeon 5850 is now able to use DXVA for profile 5.1 files with high reference frames, but not the Radeon 5450? Edit~Nevermind, it turns out that the Radeon 5450 does do DXVA in profile 5.1 with even 16 ref frames, just not over Remote Desktop Connection. My mistake. You guys are miracle workers, I never thought these non-compliant videos would work with DXVA! Last edited by neo_sapien; 10th September 2010 at 18:35. |

Is there any option in MPC-HC to reclock the frame rate of a video file (like the ReClock program does)? At the moment I use the 'Autochange full screen monitor mode' option to change my display to 24Hz output when opening a MKV/H264 video file with MPC-HC. This is because the MKV/H264 files have frame rates of 23.976. I want to reclock this frame rate to 24 to avoid stutters on my display. Is there an option within MPC-HC that can do this?

What about adding an option under the help menu to dump settings to a text file? You could call it 'Generate Support Information'. It would dump the settings, along with general system info to a file in the user's desktop folder (or some other folder). That would make it pretty noob proof.

I have some problems with MPC-HC & my Tuner = "VideoMate TV SAA7134 Hybrid Capture Device" on analog
1. Every time I "Open Device" it defaults to SVideo instead off Tuner. Can't MPC-HC remember "last input mode" used or default to Tuner ? 2. Although I have a Pal Tuner I can only get 29.97 FPS 3. If I change any Video setting from the capture options (e.g. manually change to 25fps) MPC-HC it's crashing and the change "it sticks" only for the next time I "Open Device" the second time I "Open Device" it defaults again to the initial settings = YUY2 320x240@29.97 It's just me (my Tuner) or this happens to everyone (again on analog "side") Edit: I don't have this problems with other software e.g. Windows Media Center

Good morning.
Wonder if in future releases you can update the skin of this magnificent player, the current time seems designed for W98. THANKS

Yes, but this is the same as configuring 24hz in Windows. If I do this my TV says 1080p/24, so i assume it's the same. Still not good enough to play MKV files with 23.976 fps completely stutter-free. If I use reclock to turn up the frame rate to 24 fps the movie plays smoothly and completely stutter-free! But I would like to see such option within MPC-HC. Mainly because MPC-HC also has the option to change the refresh rate when playing in full screen. It would be very nice if this could be combined with an option to reclock the frame-rate!

Hello and greetings. I have troubles with DVD playback decoding since few updates. One of the last who works properly is 1.3.2283. Please see the screenshot taken with 1.4.2523.
Can you tell me what are the real differences between MSVC2010(SSE2) and MSVC2008? Thanks a lot. Bye. Last edited by HCuser; 10th September 2010 at 17:11. |

Difference: different compiler. Different binary code produced. The 2010 requires a newer CPU (that supports SSE2).
Regarding the DVD decoding issue... right click and go into Filters while playing. Give us a screenshot. |
