why do you want to convert the VOB files to an AVI? if you are going to burn them to a DVD, just rip the entire DVD and then burn that to a blank DVD media. No need for an AVI. Since a DVD can hold at most 9 gig a side, you should probably have at least 10 gig free before doing this. Hope this helps.

I actually have no idea of how to do that. But I can tell you this. If you are going to go to an uncompressed avi, you need a huge amount of space. I think it is about 10 gig for each half-hour, but I won't swear to that. So if you're doing a 2-hour movie 40 gig sounds about right. So basically, what you want to do is take a DVD, down-sample it to a lower bitrate and then burn it back on to a DVD?

Hi,
Maybe this link will help you: -> http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdmoviefactory.htm I know very little about putting mpeg2+sound streams onto a dvd so i can't vouch at all for this guide. (There's a lot of methods on these pages - vcd, svcd etc. ... just scroll down til u find the appropriate guide - they are there, usually close to bottom of page.) It'd be handy if you could post any links u find on this subject - my friend just got a dvd burner and i would be interested in finding out more. Shame about the cost of blanks atm tho , oh well. Bye.
