Replacing video in DVD menu
Is there any easy way how to replace existing menu video with modified on on mpeg2 stream level? I have to add noninteractive logo to menu on existing dvd, ie demux video from vob, modify it with some editor adding required logo and muxing it back.
Usually I make changes to DVDs with DVDRemake Pro, but it alows only full replacement of menu PGC which includes loosing buttons/subpicture highlight/color paletes - which is exactly what i dont want. |

Try VobBlanker. You can use a background of your choice. Needs muxman (free version is OK).
Guide on site. But I was sure DVD Remake Pro could also do this. Check out the help manual. Regards

VobBlanker is OK, but it works only for still menus.

Yes, it can be done.
1. Export the original buttons and color schemes with PgcEdit. 2. Demux all streams of the menu cell with PgcDemux. 3. Modify the video stream (add noninteractive logo). 4. Mux all streams with MuxMan. 5. Replace the menu cell with VobBlanker. 6. Import the original buttons and color schemes with PgcEdit. If you are familiar with these programs its really easy... goonix |

Way to go, goonix! Through trial and error I've figured out the exact same way to do it. I used to use the Msc_Alex guide here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...936#post555936 Not long ago blutach clued me in that there was a much better and easier way to edit menus now, but without telling me what it was. Being too embarrassed to ask, I started experimenting and came up with the method you just outlined so clearly and succintly. Good work! Do you remember mentioning it in passing once, blutach? Or maybe my memory is faulty. |

I remember manono, but wondered why I never got further interesting emails from you asking!
Always a pleasure to hear from you And do try the VobBlanker approach if it's a still you wish to replace with. Regards

Hello
Dear Msc_Alex, blutach, goonix and Manono. If you can help me. I have the DVD of the movie Foul Play. Originally the DVD is complete including Menu. Ripped the DVD to HD. Extracts the subtitle in English and did the translation for the Portuguese. Then I added the subtitle in Portuguese to the DVD, tutorial by following this link: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic275603.html. I did Demux, Reauthor and Remux the entire DVD without changing its structure. The new DVD is perfect. The new subtitle in Portuguese is properly synchronized with the audio. I can access the new subtitle by remote control from a standalone DVD player, but the menu does not have the corresponding button to the subtitle added. The menu has only two buttons to the caption: English and None. Now the request for assistance: 1) How to create a button to add the menu with the same design of existing ones? 2) How to insert this new button - so the menu has 3 buttons for subtitles: English, Portuguese and None - and how to call this button the appropriate caption in Portuguese? 3) What software should I use and a step by step tutorial of the whole procedure, if possible with pictures, since I do not know to perform this part. I am grateful for the attention and help. petervanpan |
