Hi,

SuperRes and SSSR should use the same logic for upscaling, meaning that they'll always scale to the output size. I've been thinking of adding an option to not scale all the way to the output size, but I haven't gotten round to it yet.

Please do, when possible. Having the option for SuperRes and SSSR to not scale to output size can allow for render chains to do image doubling with refinement more than once.

Hate to bring this recurrent issue up again, but in setting up MPDN on my new laptop (Intel 630+Nvidia 1050), with all default settings, I get this error:

Opening MPDN on its own and removing all Bicubic avoids the error. (Unlike an earlier report, lanczos is fine.) Softcubic is fine, spline fine, etc. Only Bicubic specifically doesn't seem to work on my system, and I tried changing the presenter, the OCL, and a bunch of other settings before I isolated it to the upscaling method. Anything I can do to help troubleshoot?

Unfortunately the only known fixes are using windows 7 and/or updating to .Net framework 4.7+. Although it affecting Bicubic is indeed new, I hope that doesn't mean it's an entirely different but similar bug.

The annoying part is that the bug is not actually in the code itself but in the way the code is obfuscated and how this is interpreted by the .Net Framework. So assuming this is the same bug (which it does seem to be, since it's eerily similar, and also impossibly specific) there's unfortunately not much point in debugging any further. Unless someone really wants to spend time tracking down a bug in the raw MPDN bytecode / .Net Framework interpreter.

I've modified the code on my end to at least add it as a hidden option, which can be enabled by editing the settings manually (which you access by copy/pasting the script to/from a text editor from the script chain window, or by editing the settings file). This should be part of the next extensions update.

Thanks for sharing your findings. I went and opened it on its own like you mentioned (instead of opening a file to launch it), and checked my settings. Sure enough I had Bicubic as one of my settings (Chroma Upscaler). When I changed it to something else and launched files the error did not occur on my system either.

I just downloaded & installed the latest version from:

http://www.zachsaw.com/mpdn/

I added it to the NVIDIA Control Panel so it uses the 1060m instead of the Intel HD -- EDIT: removing it from the NCP still gives the error in the image -- however, trying to play any video I get the following error:

Here's the log:

Here's the log:

I haven't used MPDN in about 2yrs, but this never happend before when I used it on Win7 x64, I am currently on Win10 x64.
Open MPDN on its own, and in the scaler options change Bicubic to pretty much anything else. It's a known issue.

I've been trying to get MPDN to work at all since updating to 1803, and I think it's just not going to happen. That obfuscation layer has obviously completely broken the program in newer Windows. Sucks, this was my favorite player.

If anyone reading this would still like to use MPDN on the latest Win10 update, the 32bit and AnyCPU versions seem to work perfectly.

Is it possible to use MPDN as a component within a .NET program? Or any plan on adding this support?

Using MPDN as a component inside another .Net program is probably not possible at the moment. That said, I have done some work in trying to separate MPDN into its components. The end goal is to have a fully open source and modular version of MPDN, but progress is a bit slow, and some rather important parts aren't allowed to be made open source hence the obfuscation.

I'm still hoping to find a nice option for the video-decoding part. Ideally something that doesn't necessarily rely on Directshow.

JFMI, why open sourcing some parts but not others?

Don't get me wrong, obviously I understand very well why a developer would not want to open source his solution (after all almost all my stuff is closed source). I'm just not sure what the reason would be for open sourcing some parts of a project like this, but not others?

Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. (Mpdn.RenderScript)

I'm receiving a render script error as soon as I try to launch the player now.

"Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object. (Mpdn.RenderScript)"

Is there a way to start the program in a "safe" type mode to get into it with out it running RenderScript, or somewhere I can remove the setting that is using renderscript when starting the player?

I was using the x64 version, after reading about the AnyCPU version working after the Windows Patch. I was able to use it once, but then the next time I tried to use it I encountered this error.

Unfortunately the current implementation contains code that is not allowed to be made open source. Which is annoying in C# where a 'compiled' application is barely different from its source code.

In options>debugging you can enable the debug dialog, that will give more information on what went wrong. If you empty the extensions folder you should at least be able to reach the options menu. If not something else has gone wrong, which is entirely possible with the way Microsoft is apparently messing about with the .Net framework.

First I tried copying everything in the extension folder out of it, to a temp folder elsewhere. I ran MDPN and still got the error, so I then went to where I had copied the extension folder files, ran the uninstall from there, then deleted everything that was left behind in the folder, and finally tried running MPDN again. Still encountered the same error, and everything grayed out and no way to get into options after clicking "ignore" after the error message.

Guess I'm stuck waiting on a Microsoft/.Net fix that might never come unless anyone has any other ideas.

Where do I get the LAV filters for MPDN, as it won't let me watch anything without them..?!
