Which codec to use for reference video

I am testing a couple of TV cards, and doing that, I have to save some videos from each card in the best possible quality to have some reference material.

The problem is that my harddrive has trouble keeping up with the data load during recording I am currently using Huffyuv since it is lossless. Any idea of which codec I should use and at which settings?

The resolution I am recording at is 720x576, and the processor in the test machine is a Celeron M 1.6GHz.

I would try Lagarith, which should have better compression then HuffYUV. If this won't help, then try MJPEG.
