AVI2DVD: Audio (AC3) Extraction issue

I'm encountering an audio issue when converting several avi files containing ac3 audio. Basically, not all of the audio is extracted from the original avi, resulting in an mpeg file that has incomplete audio, i.e the last avi I converted was 52 minutes in length. While the resulting mpeg file was also 52 minutes in length, after 40 minutes there is no audio.

I've tried the doing a direct stream copy (audio&video) with VDubMod and also selected DVD2SVCD's internal audio extraction, but to no avail.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just tested the same problematic files with DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 build 3. No such problems. Audio in mpeg file is the correct length and in sync with video.

Try demuxing the audio and converting it manually with BeSweet. I haven't used DVD2SVCD in a few years, but I do know that if your source has problems or anything unusual in it, DVD2SVCD will barf on it and do things like what has happened to you. Since it's an AVI file and probably DivX or Xvid, there might be a bad frame that is giving DVD2SVCD some problems.

Tried that. Unfortunetely the resulting audio file is only 22 minutes in length (audio in avi file is 52 minutes).

Why don't you just re-rip the audio with either DVD Decrypter v.3.5.4 or SmartRipper, from your original, purchased DVD?

That is presuming his AC3 file is DVD-sourced.
For example some (eg JVC Everio) camcorders output in AC3.

However, looking at that log, I would agree that the source file is corrupt and should, if possible be remade or repaired. I don't see this as a problem with DVD2SVCD or BeSweet. I think this is simply a poor source.

As per your first post, your talking about AVI's. If DVD2SVCD or VirtualDUB cant extract/demux the audio, simply load the AVI into GoldWAVE and save out as WAV, then use what-ever to convert to mp2 or ac3.
