Could someone please tell me what this error means? I just set Windows 7 (yes, authentic student upgrade official release) up on a new machine and didn't encounter this under Vista.

This is also a VC-1 disk and a legitimate rip.
1. Did you install: AVISYNTH, FFDSHOW, and HAALI?

2. Did you enable the proper CODECs in FFDSHOW?

@happycase,

I believe you don't want to be talking windows 7 in this forum ... it's kind of a dirty word. I've read enough to know that these bug reports are specific to Vista and XP operating systems.

But it sounds like a codec issue. It seems like it isn't recognizing the VC-1 format in win7. I know in vista and xp, it is indirectly supported in Windows media player 11.. not sure about win7

Not any longer. Windows 7 has been officially released. I have always said I would support it after it was out of beta -- and now it is. I'm glad I waited too, because (as I suspected) it appears that the issues went away with the betas.... who'd a' thought, eh?

I'm running BD-RB on Windows 7 right now. In my system VC-1 is supported directly (I have it disabled in FFDSHOW).

I got a three system family pack for $129 at Sam's Club. Not a bad deal. I was planning to have to do some reprogramming to get it to work -- but I just upgraded my Vista system directly and boddabam-boddaboom, it worked first time I tried it with no need for any changes. I'm going to do another computer from scratch to see if it works out-of-the-box with no existing O/S in place.

In ffdshow, I have MPEG2 set to libmpeg2, and VC1 set to libavcodec. I also just reinstalled the programs with UAC turned off in case that was the issue.

Another symptom I am having is that when I open the decrypted m2ts in Media Player, I get sound but no video. Is my computer missing a codec perhaps?

Thanks for the help so far.

Could you elaborate more on this, because I am fairly sure that my issue is VC1 and ffdshow related.

I redid the backup without the tweaks and now the file size is perfect. Here the crf prediction without tweaks:

So it looks as if the tweaks (--me umh --tune film) have jeopardized the 1-pass crf process in this case.

Ok re-encoded full backup BD-9 M vs. A with BD-R v0.31.01

First let me be clear on the issue I'm having:

- while playing the movie and invoking the PiP extra "Animator Corner" I get the following issue(s) with these software players:

AnyDVD: - no issues when ISO ripped directly using AnyDVD. PiP is fine
Arcsoft 2.6/3.0: - garbled sound (mixed main and secondary audio) while playing just the movie and no sound from the PiP. PiP however does come up
PowerDVD9: - sound played fine in movie but no sound came up in PiP
standalone players: haven't checked so don't know

Other than that it was a perfect re-encode

I haven't burn the disc due to these problems so I've only tested the ISOs into VirtualClone Drive (lost a DL disc this way cause the problem was still there) in order to check

Operating System: XP MCE SP2
Region: A
Settings: Defaults w v0.31.01 except for audio and subtitle selection (unchecked limit 1 track per language)

Please see attached for all my other settings

Any help would be appreciated

Try setting VC-1 to "disabled"

I still have issues with Angels & Demons and batch mode using v0.31.01:

I wanted to test batch mode of the latest version and had two titles added.

A&D was title two, the long/extended alternate playlist was chosen and it started correctly in batch mode with a predicted running time of 2:26h.

Then i aborted and resumed and by doing so bd-rb picked the first/shorter playlist again and created a movie with the theatrical running time of 2:18h

Problem # 2 is this:

having burned one of those conversion i have doen of A&D (the longer one from non batch mode) i am NOT able to get the proper /german in this case) subtitles to play in the beginning of the movie (starting ~4:18, when Vittoria and colleagues talk french and italian).

the german subtiles ARE present on the converted material, as TMT3 plays them fine when audio language GERMAN is chosen and NO subs are selected within the player BUT the standalone player (samsung bd-p1600) will not display GEMRAN subs.

ENGLISH subs are shown when i select the english audio stream but i cannot manage to have those german subs to be displayed.

of course i tried all 15 subtile entries but none of them is a correct one.

only the first two [english+german] lead to a result showing complete subtitles for everything spoken but not the ones for the dialogue in languages different from the audio streams.

what can i do in order to narrow down this "mistake/weird behavior"?

Did you use what was already in the batchlist, or clear it and start over? You have to do the latter. Is this a commercial release of Angels and Demons? It isn't released in the U.S. until next Tuesday...

I wonder why these films seem to be always be released earlier in Europe than in the U.S?

Clear was the wrong word... the title had to be added to the batch list from within v0.31.01 (not already be in the list) because the MPLS selection information is inserted when the title is added.

Does ffdshow actually run when bd rebuilder is running? I installed the proper codecs with windows 7, but had to do some fooling around with codec tools to get ffdshow to take over window 7's codecs.

OK, since it is not too common to interrupt a batch process that's seems to be more than fair

the severe problem still stays with the subtile, which must be present but does not show up

does anyone have an idea on how to look into the structure of this rebuilt version and maybe get a clue as to what may perhaps not be referenced perfectly fine?

since i have never ever experienced any such problem with the samsung 1600 i cant help but think it's in the movie only conversion

I watched BD RB during the extraction phase which it got through 100% and then try to go on to the encode. I watched the task manager after the extraction phase to see if ffdshow was running at all and it was not. It looks like I might have the same problem you encountered. How did you fix it?

I gave that a try and am BD RB is still failing to encode. As far as I can tell, ffdshow is not even being called by BD RB, but I don't know anything for certain.
