There are some registry settings you can make -- look through the thread, I believe Turbojet posted a .bat file that will make them for you. Are you using one of the Windows 7 releases that predated the official release? I used the official release and didn't have to run the batch.

You may not be able to see it directly. It's a CODEC that get's used referenced AVISYNTH via X264 -- which in turn gets called by BD Rebuilder.

Thanks for the information. I've been keeping my Win 7 package for my BD-Rebuilder PC sitting on the shelf until I got your confirmation.

Are the the utilities and versions listed in the first thread still valid with the official Win 7 release? I almost hate to touch anything since I've been running with zero failures making my Movie Only copies to BD9... on XP.

Follow up on audio error

Heres a follow up on the ReencodeAudio() 00075 1801 error. I tried to continue the job and it went on just fine with the next segment. No complaining at all. So probably a glitch at my end or something. Though I did get eac3to to report an audio overlap at (almost certain) the right spot.

Could this be a sign of a badly authored disc or a bad anydvd rip? VID_00001 is the beginning of end titles. Right at the 1:59.57 mark where eac3to reports the overlap.

I have also burnt it to a bd-re and there is no problem at all playing it in my ps3. No glitch in audio or picture. It plays perfect.

I hope this will come in handy, otherwise please ignore ^^

well I installed the win 7 codec pack from http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html

It has a handy utility, make sure ffdshow is used appropriately, not microsoft codecs. Before this, bd rebuilder encoded a movie without errors, but it was very choppy video, not sure if it used ffdshow properly or what. But now everything works great, by default ffdshow should appear somewhere in your notification area when bd rebuilder starts to encode. This utility also forced windows media player and center to use ffdshow and not its own codec. I used to use gspot on vista to tweak which codecs were being used, but I didn't even see ffdshow listed anywhere.

DTS and Dolby Digital.

Hi,

I am testing different applications to see which can best compress a Blu-Ray (Movie Only) to a DVD-9 media. So far I have played with DVDFab and BD-RB. From my compressions I have noticed that the Picture Quality produced by BD-RB was better than what DVDFab has produced, but then again DVDFab is much faster again. Anyway, I do not want to start a conversation / war on this. I have decided to stick with BD-RB for now and do some more tests. The problem I am currently experiencing is that BD-RB always re-encodes the audio to ac-3. Is there a way to set the program to take the core, either DTS / DD, and only work with that without re-encoding with "aften"? I have selected and un-selected the 2 settings regarding "Audio" but it does not seem to work. Does anybody have any idea to accomplish this for "Movie-Only" compressed to BD-9?

Thanks for a great tool.

I was searching other forums for solutions to the VC1 problem and I found a post that stated installing Ripbot onto the computer after installing ffdshow, avisynth, and media splitter would make them work with BD RB. I installed Ripbot last night and then ran BD RB and the encode went off without a hitch.

I hope this helps with future programming to improve Windows 7 compatibility.

Go into the setup dialog and click on "Do not reencode AC3" and "Do not convert DTS to AC3." It will not reencode audio if those are selected (make sure you SAVE CHANGES) -- I've tested it many, many times with those settings after other similar reports and have never seen it reencode when it was told not to.

Please note, though: If you are doing a movie-only encode and have "Strict AVCHD" selected -- DTS and AC3 will always be reencoded to AC3. DTS is not included in the AVCHD standard -- and I reencode AC3 to ensure it stays within the AVCHD 640Kbs/5.1 limits. If you want to override those limits (at your own risk) you can add the following to the "[Options]" area of the config file:

OVERRIDE_AVCHD_AUDIO_LIMIT=1

jdobbs,
One quick question, for you and all the others that tried it.
The diference between Highest (Very Slow) to High Speed option (BD25) in Image Quality is noticeable in a 40" screen?
I mean if the diference in hours is worth it. I know this probably will change from user to user.

Thanks

Cheers mate, I'll chalk it up to a bad rip then and try to re-rip when i get chance. I'll try CATWILDUK's settings just once first though before i can bring myself to delete it

Glad to see BDRebuilder doing so well - keep it up!

This worked and fixed my "Drag Me to Hell" sync problem.

Thanks

I can't imagine a scenario where it would be noticeable on a 40" screen. I can't really see much, if any, difference when using the fastest mode to a BD25 copy on a 52" screen.

jdobbs, Thanks for clarifying this.

I had "Movie-Only" selected together with "Strict-AVCHD" and did
not know that only AC-3 is supported in AVCHD structure.

Works fine now.

It can also be LPCM (up to 7.1). But that severely limits how much you can put on a DVD-5/9.

Hey, can you share your settings for the FFDShow configuration or anything that you may have changed to make it work? Because I made Tinkerbell 2, and the video is choppy, you say you fixed, can you please share how exactly you did that?

Was ffdshow running when bd rebuilder was encoding? If not, I would uninstall any codecs or codec packs (but not avisynth) and install sharks package for simplicity sake. Then launch the settings application for sharks and make sure in the h264 tab ffdshow is selected to be used and not windows own codec. Then hopefully when you run bd rebuilder ffdshow will launch properly and the video will not be choppy.

You don't have to wait for a full encode job to check the quality of the video, just wait for one or two smaller videos to finish being encoded and browse to the work folder.
