I'm often keeping video and audio separated, but I've noticed that audio delay can be slightly different this way. I mean with separated audio tracks it can happen that the whole track needs e.g. 80ms more delay. I'll probably mux everything into one nice MKV file as the last step, when I have the optimal collection of video and audio tracks for a movie. But I'll never reencode anything if I can avoid it. Exceptions are lossless tracks which I always reencode to FLAC. |

Someone somewhen has to remap the channels. Currently no demuxer does that. eac3to is the only one which is remapping the channels correctly. So regardless of the way you demux the audio, eac3to has to remap the channels. It doesn't matter whether you feed eac3to WAV or PCM or whatever else, the channels need to be remapped. eac3to does that the remapping automatically only if the input is PCM and big endian. For everything else you need to use the "-blu-ray" parameter. You can also use the parameter when feeding big endian PCM. Using that parameter doesn't harm, as long as the source is Blu-Ray PCM and the channels were not remapped yet.

I have tested out all of my VC1 movies (POTO,Matrix,Harry Potter) all work like a charm now, it was the Fddshow that was screwed up i turned it off and now it works? i dunnow.
I have tried Transformers but im having troubles with that one, unless Madshi is still trying VC1 let me know when ur ready to fix up AVC with HD-DVD. |

Please check your DirectShow filters. Transformers has been reported by several people to work just fine with eac3to. There was one person complaining about problems with Transformers but IIRC he got the problem solved by modifying his playback configuration.

Correct. But there's no reason to keep TrueHD tracks as they are, anyway. Just convert them to FLAC (by using the free libav decoder which is shipping with eac3to). The conversion is lossless and mkvmerge can handle FLAC just fine.

Here's a Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 track (uncut evo) which crashes libav. Once again i didn't demux because both eac3to and evodemux give different DD+ tracks. Any explanation on this? More samples to follow as soon as you explain me the above. (i have a slow connection and i can't upload the .evos - which contain the useless video stream - and even cutting a piece of them would still be pretty big. So i have to know which demuxing method is the right one) |

6.1 and/or 7.1 sources would be perfect for that because DD EX is able to perform up to 7.1 channels. As far as I know there's no "external encoders" for that like SurCode or any other, only Sound Forge (see previous posts of myself) but I do know extra (rear) channels are matriced, not discrete so maybe it is not too difficult to add to your (HQ, perfect and reliable) AC3 encoder. Anyway, thanks for this unique tool. |

I'll will upload the other 2 samples in a few minutes. Maybe they are same as the previous ones, maybe not... EDIT: E-AC3 and TrueHD 7.1 tracks up! I did some tests with nero decoders (eac3 & truehd) and they both decode 7.1 tracks to 5.1, but the 2 extra (back) channels are mixed with the surround ones. The left back into left surround and the right back into right surround. Last edited by nautilus7; 30th January 2008 at 15:37. |

I have found that 95% of my problems have been that I did not understand the eac3to commands and/or a mis-configured PC (Directshow filters, video and audio encoders/decoders). For me, Madshi, Nautilus7 answers, the first page of the thread, along with the search function in this thread have been a great help. Also opening a newly created MKV (working or not) in GraphEdit has been a great learning tool. I have a long way to go before I will be competent with eac3to! I also believe a new thread would be helpful. Maybe something like megui's threads. One for developing and one for questions and troubleshooting.
(madshi in case you didn't see it, the samples are in my previous post) |
