Possible AQ bug
Is it a bug or a feature that in builds since 861
AQ is out, which is noticeable when comparing filesizes and in files too: x264 - core 59 r861 7331ea4 ... pb_ratio=1.30 aq=2:2.00 x264 - core 60 r881 e098505 ... pb_ratio=1.30 aq=0 Changing aq-mode and aq-strength gives no effect. |

Stop using CQP mode.
Constant Quantizer does indeed mean constant, so AQ is auto-disabled when using it. |

Depends on what you want to achieve!
If you want to get a certain level of quality, find out which CRF value satisfies your eyes and use that value for all encodes. And if you want to get the maximum quality for a given filesize (or average bitrate), then use the 2-Pass mode. Yes, I think so.
