Sorry, usually "stretching" to a 16x9 screen means to make 4x3 wider...

Yeah.. probably, that's not the question though.. I want to gid rid of the black bars on top and bottom (stretch in the vertical direction, as said) and keep that setting persistent. I only watch 16:9 stuff, but even that has sometimes black bars on top or bottom..

Or should I post this in another topic maybe?

With mpc-hc 32 bit latest build i have no dxva acceleration

http://i31.tinypic.com/517n92.jpg

but with the same movie with mpc-hc 64 bit (version 1.1.0.0 ) i have dxva - is the same video

http://i27.tinypic.com/205iix.jpg

Is this issue because I am using a 64bit os and of course 64bit video drivers (catalyst 8.4 64bit)? or is something within mpc?

One more thing. Is there any way to add delay to subtitles when they are rendered by mpc-hc engine (like it is in directvobsub) or i have to correct the timings before with lets say subtitle workshop and then watch them.

this file has several problems:
1 incorrect level setting
2 too many ref frames for the used resolution

this file has only one problem, but MPC-HC has a workaround for it:
1 incorrect level setting

Due to the workaround this file does work, however any player that is enforcing all the standards would not play back this file

Release 517 have been uploaded here : http://www.zshare.net/download/12208747666f6988/

Internal Mpeg Source filter have been modify to support M2TS files :
- works with VC1, H264, AC3, DTS, LPCM (16 bits only), DTS-HD
- didn't works with Eac3 and Dolby true HD

For M2TS files with VC1 internal decoder should be used (not compatible with ffdshow or MS decoder yet).

VC-1 Interlaced Material Bug (sample provided)

Regarding the pure Interlaced material black screen, Correct duration calculation but stuck to 00:00 black screen i allegate a sample from haali wich show that the stream is parsed (look at the bitrate graph) and 20 seconds of interlaced material so that tests can be done in order to resolve.

The test stream is a 20 secs mkv trunk containing only VC-1 interlaced video (no audio).

This is due to a feature request : kick screen saver only when playing video

Is there way to edit how the mpeg2 decoder outputs DVD subtitles? I mean they are by default quite crappy looking, or is DVD subtitles already defined on DVD so that mpc cant edit font and size and position anymore?

How do I make sure that there are no other filters between codec and VR ???
I'm also looking for this answer. In the mean time, looking at MPC-HC menu Play/Filters I always see ffdshow in the decoders list:

ffdshow only
ffdshow+MPC
ffdshow+DivX

When I set the Merit of ffdshow to "do not use", I get a black screen. So how I can comply with the DXVA "no intermediate filters" requirement.

Thank you.

Yes.

DVD subtitles are simply 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) bitmaps with two bits per pixel (i.e. just 4 colors).

There's not much you can do with that...

in the key configuration of mpc, the App Command for "MEDIA_PLAY", "MEDIA_PAUSE", "MEDIA_FAST_FORWARD" and "MEDIA_REWIND" do not work

but "MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE", "MEDIA_STOP", etc.. do work

i know that "MEDIA_PLAY", "MEDIA_PAUSE", "MEDIA_FAST_FORWARD" and "MEDIA_REWIND" App Command should work because they do work for me with my remote control in windows media player 11, powerdvd and winamp

so please, is it possible to fix those App Command

thanks in advance

i suggest to change it a little bit in the FfmpegContext.c :
if (((nWidth > 720) && (cur_sps->ref_frame_count > (1024*MAX_DPB_41/(nWidth*nHeight*1.5)))) || // HD content, level 4.1
((nWidth <= 720) && (cur_sps->ref_frame_count > (1024*MAX_DPB_31/(nWidth*nHeight*1.5))))) // SD content, level 3.1
return 2; // Too much ref frames

ON

if (((nWidth > 720) && (cur_sps->level_idc == 41) && (cur_sps->ref_frame_count > (1024*MAX_DPB_41/(nWidth*nHeight*1.5)))) || // HD content, level 4.1
((nWidth <= 720) && (cur_sps->level_idc == 31) && (cur_sps->ref_frame_count > (1024*MAX_DPB_31/(nWidth*nHeight*1.5))))) // SD content, level 3.1
return 2; // Too much ref frames

Because do checking ref_frame_count for Level 4.1 and 3.1, but level_idc do not check.

I have many .mkv where ref_frame_count it's ok for Level 4.1, but Level in here is 5.1 and DXVA NOT WORK

this is a very nice and informative thread about DXVA :

Code:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=972503
my test confirmed that the mortal enemy for DXVA with 1080 material is number of ref frames - bigger then 4 and goodbye to DXVA
only way to fix is reencoding. (vertical mod16 is not a problem, nut sure for a 5.1 profile as I always reencode in 4.1)

With 720 it's a lot easier, if there is a problem (usually not) IDC changer (link above) can fix it instantly.

and try AVINAPTIC for media info (also link above)

all tested on Radeon HD3200 & MPC HC alone (what a marvelous piece of software - not a single extra codec on PC !)

I think you have a problem elsewhere. As you can read in a lot of threads talking about that (in avs forum for example), if your file have the good number of refs it is a 4.1 compliant file even if 5.1 is signaled in the file (not totally true because of VBV, but DXVA seems to do not care about VBV limitations at least for decent bitrate eg not 300 mbps )

WOuld be nice, if MPC-HC would add Open * with Media Player Classic in Vista default open handlers, I mean DVD, Blue Ray etc automatc open handler in Vista. If I install PowerDVD then power dvd add's itself to default program to autoplay dvd. It would nice to have MPC do same thing as I want to play everything with MPC.
