Anyone tried WM9? It rocks, but way slow.

I'm currently encoding Aliens with WM9 and looking at the screen out of Flask, I gotta say that this codec is very clean and hopefully the 128bps 5.1 sound will be too.
I encoded Queen of The Damned yesterday using 32bps sound and it accually sounds ok.
If you want to play with it in Flask or any of the Flask clones you gotta have the BETA Windows Media Player 9 and wmvcreator for Flask(use Google to find)
But damn it's slow! I'm getting 4-5 FPS on a dual P3 system!
I was keeping up with you P4 and Athlon guys with my encodes but I think my machine is now showing signs of it's age.

With Flask v0.6 + Flaskv6_preview1_1 i get 4.6 - 4.8 fps on a P3/700; With v0.594 vanilla, i get about 7 fps.

Problem: with wmvcreator I can only have CBR audio-out, and 1-pass video.... i must fiddle with it a bit more....

any suggestion from someone else trying this method?

btw, quality seems fair, at a first glance.... i didn't expect anything less, in any case, provided the mktg hype!
