Angel opening credits blocky
Hi!
I wanted to encode the first season of Angel RC2 with DVD2SVCD. Each episode (approx. 42 min.) should be with 2 languages and 2 subtitle streams on 1 80 min. CD. But when I watch the result the opening credits (for those who don't know: fast cuts, screen flashes, colored border) are all blocky, same as fast cuts where the screen flashes white in the show itself. Here's my .ecl file: -------------------------------------------------------------------- ; Cinema Craft Encoder SP -- Encoder Control List [item] title=ChangeCDPicture.bmp.avs vid_out=1 vaf_out=1 aud_out=0 vid_file0=e:\angelVOB\ChangeCDPicture.bmp.mpv vid_file1=e:\angelVOB\ChangeCDPicture.bmp.mpv vaf_file=E:\angelVOB\ChangeCDPicture.bmp.vaf aud_file=e:\angelVOB\ChangeCDPicture.bmp.mp2 file_focused=0 encode_mode=0 packet_size=2324 timecode=0x1000000 width=480 height=576 vmode=1 frame_rate_idx=3 cbr_brate=2400 opv_q_factor=60 opv_brate_min=2000 opv_brate_max=9000 vbr_brate_avg=6000 vbr_brate_min=2000 vbr_brate_max=9000 vbr_bias=30 vbr_pass=3 quality_prec=17 use_filter=0 filter_val=2 seq_endcode=1 dvd=0 half_width=0 half_height=0 fast_mode=0 progressive=1 alternate_scan=0 non_linear=0 top_first=1 lum_level=0 intra_dc_prec=-1 aspect_ratio=2 gop_m=3 gop_nm=5 gop_hdr=15 seq_hdr=1 all_closed_gop=0 fix_gop_length=0 mpeg1=0 mpeg1_cps=1 samples_per_sec=44100 stereo=2 brate_idx=7 crc=1 [file] name=E:\angelVOB\ChangeCDPicture.bmp.avs type=0 frame_first=0 frame_last=2 encode_first=0 encode_last=2 [item] title=AviSynth_Script_file.avs vid_out=1 vaf_out=1 aud_out=0 vid_file0=e:\angelVOB\Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv vid_file1=e:\angelVOB\Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv vaf_file=e:\angelVOB\CCE_Video_Information_File.vaf aud_file=e:\angelVOB\Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv.mp2 file_focused=0 encode_mode=0 packet_size=4096 timecode=0x1000000 width=480 height=576 vmode=2 frame_rate_idx=3 cbr_brate=6000 opv_q_factor=60 opv_brate_min=2000 opv_brate_max=9000 vbr_brate_avg=2230 vbr_brate_min=300 vbr_brate_max=2370 vbr_bias=30 vbr_pass=4 quality_prec=17 use_filter=0 filter_val=2 seq_endcode=1 dvd=0 half_width=0 half_height=0 fast_mode=0 progressive=1 alternate_scan=0 non_linear=0 top_first=0 lum_level=1 intra_dc_prec=2 aspect_ratio=2 gop_m=3 gop_nm=5 gop_hdr=15 seq_hdr=1 all_closed_gop=0 fix_gop_length=0 mpeg1=0 mpeg1_cps=1 samples_per_sec=44100 stereo=2 brate_idx=7 crc=1 [file] name=E:\angelVOB\AviSynth_Script_file.avs type=0 frame_first=0 frame_last=60956 encode_first=0 encode_last=60956 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Does anyone know if there's a work-around?

I think you answered your own question "fast cuts, screen flashes, colored border". SVCD is not very good at doing any of these. If there is alot of this going on then there is really not all that much you can do. Sorry

nice pc setup jason.. hehe
yeah.. 2370 max isnt enought bitrate for massive motion - the flashing borders on constant scene changing.. just too much to handle.. a workaround? well.. you can set the max bitrate higher(lets say 5000-6000 kbps).. and if your a lucky one with a dvd player that can read cdroms at high speeds then it will help (price doesnt matter on this one.. some of the cheapest players read cdrs faster than some expensive players) of course it'll be an Xsvcd now cause its out of spec.. but if its just for you then who cares.. test it on a cdrw first if you have one

Hmm, too bad. I was just curious because that Blade bloodbath scene at the beginning looks perfect in a 2-CD-movie with 2 languages.
But I guess I'll just have to live with it. Anyway, thanks for your replies.
