You have to select and *save* the language in the options window if you want to keep it. If this doesn't work, make sure mpui.ini isn't write-protected.

Hi LoRd_MuldeR,

This might sound stupid, but is this player pack backwards compatible with Windows 98 SE?

I don't know, because I've never tested that.
MPUI is a simple Delphi app, so this should not be the problem.
But I'm not sure if those MPlayer builds are suitable for Win9x.

If you want to know, get Vitual PC, run a Win98 machine and test it...

Last time I checked it didn't work.

I know I had to download 2 additional files from M$ to make VLC work on 98.; maybe MPUI needed those files too (sorry, forgot the names).

I will try and install MPUI again...

Ok.

The files I was refering to can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I tried to install MPUI on my poor 98 machine but since it is a P2 it didn't work

Sorry.

Sorry.
P3 build requires SSE, which P2 doesn't have.
Get a generic build of MPlayer and it should work.

Just replace the MPlayer.exe with the one form that ZIP file!

Thank you! I've done that and managed to play some files just fine.

One thing that didn't work was the progress bar. The Pause button doesn't seem to work either.

Well, MPlayer cannot seek in some files. So the Seeking-Bar won't work with such files.
The Pause button should work though...

Try a simple DivX-AVI file or something!

i will try whatever you have there....playing around with mplayer and various GUIs and builds....the problem is my GF has an old Toshiba lappy w/ PIII...and i have a hard time finding a player which does NOT cause problems.

I test the PIII builds on her laptop..and i see she has terrible problems with MPUI (and the CDruid optimized mplayer build)..i don't know why...but it is extremely choppy w/ XVid et. , bringing her comp down to the knees

But with the *same* mplayer executable/build i have GOOD
results with MPF (Mplayer frontend) on her comp...must be some setting issue.
"Good" means that picture quality and speed are awesome, but in SOME movies the audio was out of sync. (Some movies more than others). But then MPUI would just slow it down to almost an halt so i cant even use it.

There is a new Windows gui for mplayer. At first glance it seems to be pretty good.

RulesPlayer is quite fast, yes. I could play a 720p MOV file on my 800Mhz PC... Interesting.

However, they should fix their download link. ".exe" is missing.

How about ActiveX for MPlayer? Has anybody developed it yet?

Thanks,

@LoRd_MuldeR:

First of all, I've seen your wrapper lately (before I was aware of this thread) and was highly impressed with its simplicity, effectiveness, functionality and small footprint. Well done

When I saw this thread I went to the sourceforge project (and home) pages and could only find version 1.10 for download. Since it's the home page of MPUI, I think that you should either upload the latest versions to sourceforge or link from the homepage to the latest available download, or state that the homepage is no longer updated and there's another homepage.

Also, It would be great if the latest version is also always available as plain zip without mplayer in the package (on top of the standard full installer). This way savvy users can check the latest version with a very small download and without any installation.

Keep the the good work mate

You can download all versions of MPUI at it's SF homepage. Both, the binary and the sources, are in ZIP files.
So if you don't want to use my package, download MPUI form it's original homepage.
