how do you generate screenshots from videos?

I want to have a program which make screenshots for me, which is automatically taking photos from the video and combining them into one image. I 've searched and tried lots of software downloaded from the web before asking my questions here.

But none of them suits my needs

I've tried ez_thumb, it's small and fast but it doesn't offer custom configuration so I have little control of the outcome image. I ve also tried video thumbnail maker, it 's good but it takes up a lot of memory and I often result in freezing up of the system.

Thumbnail Me is close to perfection, but it doesn't allow me an option to generate without the filenames and the details of the videos on top of the outcome image.

Those built in generator in VLC or media classic player seems not to support bulk generation of a large number of videos
