Frame type

I'm reading MPEG-4 Part 2 samples from a .mp4 file. I think that each sample corresponds to a frame.

Without getting deepy into the compexities of parsing MPEG-4 Part 2 structures, is there a quick way of finding out the picture type (I, P, B) of each sample/frame ?

I'm assuming it is coded fairly simply near the start of the sample as with MPEG-2.
