Anyone knows of a practical solution to use madVR with HLG high dynamic range content?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. What is the current "solution"? It seems to me HLG material is played back in SDR.

The "intended" compatibility is a last-resort kind of thing so that something happens that doesn't look overly wrong. People expecting to play content in the intended high quality is not all that confusing.

?!? Because it's an HDR format too. And if one plays back HLG content on an HDR screen, I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation to get HDR results...
