w98 not shutting down

I use w98 and now when I try to shut down the system either restarts instead of shutting down or gets locked on the sutting down windows screen? Is there any way to (try) to repair it ( apart from reinstalling windows or bombing microsoft of course :-D )

Hello hex,

this can be caused by many different things, so best read the following:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q202633

If it is Win98 SE there are at least two shutdown patches available to deal with these issues.

Hope that helps,
Gerti

P.S. I see you're German so you can try this too: http://www.wintotaldb.de/yad/softw.php?urubrik=6
