Real Time Burning speed 1X-2X ?
The debate continues...cheap bulk to expensive name brand individually jewel cased dvd media.
Here are the results of my real life experience yesterday. I created a dvd file 4221 mb to be exact and burned the same file with 4 different media. Same file, same burning program only thing different was the media. The main reason I wanted to do this was to reassure myself that spending the extra money on expensive media was warranted...quality and speed...guess what? For my set up, the 2X burn actually took longer...lol. Burned at 2X speed in Nero Branded TDK from Ebay 1hr 13min 41 sec start to finish Individually jewel cased TDK 1hr 13min 41 sec start to finish Burned at 1X speed Nero Accu's cdrdvdr.com 1hr 11 min 59 sec start to finish Princo's 1hr 09min 55 sec start to finish Think the 2X took longer speeding up & slowing down, speeding up & slowing down. Guess for my setup I won't be purchasing more of the 2X afterall.... regards Quality looks godd on all 4, skimmed them randomly.

4489 MB, which is a full disc, may take up to 59min at 1x speed to write. At 2x speed, a disc does not take longer than 30 minutes.
The times you measured definitely mean that there are lots of buffer underruns, and that your system must be misconfigured. Last edited by alexnoe; 30th September 2002 at 20:20. |
