Yes, PS3 uses different players for both modes.

I guess you should check your Display/Video settings in PS3. There are options for BD Video/Cinema conversion, for BD 24Hz playback... Try to change some of them and see if it will make any difference.

For example, I think the PS3 doesn't switch to true 1080/24p mode (24 Hz output) if a *.m2ts file is being played in file mode. It has to be played in AVCHD/BD mode. Of course, the option has to be enabled first in the PS3 video settings.

Best,

Gero

In build 538:

Download the FULL setup if you want to have sound notification when multiAVCHD finishes compiling.

playwav.exe and done.wav are added in tools folder. If you update to latest build but don't like the sound when multiAVCHD finishes - either delete \tools\done.wav or replace it with a (wav) file of your choice.

I kinda found it useful to know when it's done while minimized.

Dean

Hi,
2 Questions:
Is the number of chapters in xmb Menu limited to 12?
The Poster Image Button have no function. Is this to add a picture as thumbnail?

today i ve tested a new movie (day earth stool still) with multi video tracks. 100% perfect

And cherry on the cake, the audio and forced subtitles works according setting preferences (which was not the case before). Have u change something to support that ??

Still stuttering after palying around with various PS3 settings. I'll try to rebuild everything with version 538, but I'm sure it will still happen, given the files play correctly when accessed directly.

Yes - I mentioned it.

What media do you use for playback? Can you post what mediainfo says about these files? BD player part of PS3 cares a lot of frame-rate, resolution and other factors. XMB player - doesn't. So if you don't care about HD audio and subtitles - just play those files through XMB.

Is there a chance that you convert PCM audio to AC3 and test again? Does audio stutter or the video?

Audio clips and video stutters. I'll recode and get back to you. I appreciate the time you are putting in.

Isn't late (early) in Sofia?

Hope you had a good rest. Recoded my original HDV AVI footage with Procoder, tsmuxed it and imported everything in multiAVCHD. Here's the media info on the file:

General
ID : 1
Complete name : c:\buffer\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00000.MTS
Format : BDAV
Format/Info : BluRay Video
File size : 933 MiB
Duration : 5mn 6s
Overall bit rate : 25.5 Mbps
Maximum Overall bit rate : 35.5 Mbps

Video
ID : 4113 (0x1011)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : MPEG Video
Format version : Version 2
Format profile : High@High
Format settings, Matrix : Default
Duration : 5mn 6s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 24.1 Mbps
Nominal bit rate : 24.0 Mbps
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16/9
Frame rate : 29.970 fps
Colorimetry : 4:2:0
Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Bottom Field First
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.388

Audio
ID : 4352 (0x1100)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Duration : 5mn 6s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 384 Kbps
Channel(s) : 6 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Surround: L R, LFE
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz

I tried all the settings on the PS3 but still a no go when played from the menu. I did notice that the CLPI files indicated 1080P when indeed it was 1080I. I edited the info in the file, but no change.

Nic.

I did a small change in multiAVCHD to set properly Interlaced flags in clip/mpls files.

I asked your yesterday - what media do you use when playing the AVCHD/BDMV folder in PS3?

Your footage bitrate is quite high and I think PS3 has no restriction when it comes to XMB player, but may be when using AVCHD/BDMV structure (PS3's BD player) - there is a media/bitrate relation.

The best thing would be to burn to BD-RE disc (using button [Blu-ray for BD-R]) and see if it will stutter again.

25 MBit HDV in AVCHD/BDMV is definitively no problem for PS3 ... tested several times with several projects. Never tested with 35 MBit as I have no cam with this bitrate. But as nearly all SAP are unable to play even those 25 MBit HDV BDMVs I fear, that PS3 reaches it´s limit at at 35 MBit HDV BDMVs.

It is good to make a test with DVD and BD media.. I have 3 USB drives and they all perform differently. One is like 10 times faster than the other... DVD is slower than BD... so it's good to test.

... I think I will reencode a short HDV sequence to 35 MBit with apples comprssor this evening. Let´s see, what PS3 thinks about a BDMV created with this high bitrated footage.
