Couple of things I would like to have:
1. Somekind of preview so that I dont have to use VD for this 2. Ability to cut some part from middle of the file And both these are the things I need for my TV-captures that I have made with my DV-cam so that I could cut out the commercials |

Well, I mean things like commercials. There can be etc 2 short parts somewhere in the middle of my 60 min file that I want to cut out of my final file if you know what I mean?
Lets just say that I have a file that has two parts (commercials in example) that I dont wanna keep: 1. Now I have to first trim the first file from beginning of the file to the one frame before commersials (or any part that I dont wanna keep). 2. Then I have to trim the second file from first frame after the commercials to one frame before next commercial. 3. Then I have to trim the third file from beginning of the first frame after the commercial to the last frame of my file. 4. Then I have to join these three files to get the final file I wanna keep and compress or put back to my dv-tape. If your software could do all this (cut unwanted parts) at one session, it would be perfect from my opinion |

Hello Valky,
Thank you for the so detailed explanation I have understood what you mean. I think such feature will appear soon. Do you need some more useful features? In reality for the futher timmer evolution we are trying to collect consumers feedback. So we'll take into account all critical remarks! You want traffic to your site from DV users? Create a proper freeware DV capture utility, especially one which works at the data packet level, not the Windows API level, so PAL can be read on NTSC devices and vice versa. There are 2 freeware DV capture utilities; WinDV and DVIO. WinDV does not capture large files and neither can properly handle DV tapes with unrecorded sections. DVIO has no viewing window and no control of the firewire device. Something like WinDV with the ability to capture until the end of the tape and low-level data packet reading would be nice.

Strange
I thought that VirtualDub|DirectStreamCopy did the same thing as SolveigMM is doing. I can remove (multiple) sections from DV AVI and trim bits from the start/end. I don't have to deal with multiple files (as Valky is having trouble with), and I work with files up to 2 hours long (could be longer, but I have no need).
Although VD only does type 2 (sadly). As FredThompson pointed out, an advancement in capture utilities would be very (extremely?) useful. WinDV has not been developed for at least a year, probably longer, and DVIO is not much chop. VD has only just incorporated DV capture, but I don't know how refined it is (haven't used it). From Averys' description, it is still fairly raw, and only does type 2. Apart from type 1 DV files (which can be converted anyway), what is this applications cliam-to-fame? Now if it could do MPEG2, that would be interesting! MM |

I tried your software and I really wnat to buy it. It cut the avi without problems and it's frame accurate.
Since I have a lot of avi to cut. I can't sit here and wait for the cutting one by one. Do you plan to support command line option? So that I can cut all the files at once. Do you also plan to let user to define the starting and ending frame? In your software, it seems there is no way to define the starting and ending frame. Thanks. |

In reality we are going to implement such a feature as a "command line" many AVI files handling. The current version of Video Splitter as well as AVI Trimmer is GOP accuracy, though we are planing to do them by frame accuracy in the nearest future. So what do you mean by ability to Quote:
