mpeg2-encoder under Linux

Hi!

I've tried several days to make svcd. The point is: there is no good mpeg2-encoder under linux. The one from mjpegtools gives mixed results. You can steer this thing only over a integer quantesizer and you never ever reach a wanted size of mpeg. You have per default VBR and no multipass. Don't get me wrong, the results are not that bad, but it is really bad if you want have full cd's or a given number of cd's and have to try again and again. Has anyone tried other ways ? Are there other ways ?
