Problem with "Full DVD Backup Guide"
Hello,
I would like to re-author a movie with multi angles and interactive menus etc. So I am using the "full DVD Backup Guide", at the doom9.org guides section to get the reauthorist.scp file in order to import all assets in Scenarist. My "problem" is that I do not want to compress my files (the movie is in DVD-9 format) because I have a DLT tape drive which has a capacity of 10 gb. Can someone point me to the right direction? What changes should I make in order not to compress the movie? Is there another tutorial or guide that I should read? thank you in advance, tzic |

I don't see the connection between reathoring and not compressing? You're gonna take it apart and then put it back together?

ah ok. Just use dif4u to demux the titlesets. And then use the uncompressed assets to reauthor your dvd

yes that would be possible. You might need to rename the files from m2v to mpv to get it to work correctly though. This only applies for titlesets 9no menus).
dif4u doesn't demux menus. You might be able to use vobedit for that.

When you are in Reauthorist just make sure that in all PGCs and all VTSes the slider at the bottom of window is set to 100%. This is a way to tell RA that You will not be recompressing anything.

Well I don't think that's necessary. Just select the correct directory, so RA can collect all assets and then press author it. That should be all

I don't want to argue with one of most valuable members of this forum but RA tends to calculate percentage so that total disc size is 4.38GB. From own experience i know that to avoid problems with importing into Scenarist (when not going to reencode) is to set that slider to 100%

oh ok. I never don't reencode so I don't really know
Wouldn't know why it would make a difference, but it's nice to know if I woud ever come across it
