DVD encoding tools for Linux
When I wanted to talk about DVD ripping I was told there is no place better than Doom 9 forums . I have read Ripping Q&A but I see posters have unintentionally assumed that everyone uses Windows, I don't. Does anyone has experience with Linux , ripping normal DVDs , not HD/Blu-Ray ? .. I currently use Thoggen but I am not satisfied with it.

As setarip points out, we have a subforum for non-Windows OS's including linuxes.
However, if you want useful feedback, please help us to help you. Firstly what, precisely, are you hoping to achieve? Are you simply wanting to copy the content from a DVD to your hard drive or are you wishing to process it and convert to another format? If it is simply the former, one of the favourite freeware (not FOSS) tools for Windows - DVDFab HD Decrypter - seems to work with Wine. You also mention that you are not satisfied with your current solution. I have never used said software and know nothing of it but in what way does it fail to meet your expectations? Go to the relevant subforum and use the search function. If you don't find what you're after, post exactly what you're aiming for and exactly what issues you are having trying to achieve your aims and I'm sure help will be forthcoming. |
