What filters do you guys use for Anime
I have read previous threads on anime and filters. BUt you guys change your opinions all the time. Can any one suggest and good anime filters to take care of MPEg2 artifacts. Im using Warp sharp and 2d optimized but it sucks. I mean I get better results using Temporal smoother. Warp sharp even at 25 doesnt seem to do anything. Except add time to my encodes . So any suggestions appreciated.

dont use any filtering unless you absolutely need too.
better encode stuff with sharp noisy picture than with blurry and filtered.

When encoding from DVD:
1) old and noisy anime: BilinearResize(x,y) TemporalSmoother or if you have more time: TemporalSmoother BicubicResize(x,y,0,0.6) 2) new and clean anime BicubicResize(x,y,0,0.6) TemporalSmoother(1) When dealing with TV captures: I use the VirtualDub filters in full processing mode TemporalSmoother 5 SmartSmoother 3/30 (this won't decelerate too much) Precise Bicubic Resize A=-0.6 |
