Ok, it seems that some people report improvements with v0.13, while others are having new problems. I need more information to find out where the problems are coming from. So first of all let me list the reported problems:
(1) leeperry (#2826) has very slow switching between windowed and fullscreen. Plus, after switching playback runs at a much too slow pace and eventually stutters. New problem with v0.13. NVidia 8800GS. XPSP3. 96Hz display refresh rate. (2) namaiki (#2829) has stuttering when playing 24Hz content with 60Hz display refresh rate when using Aero, but has no problems with 30Hz content. New problem with v0.13. NVidia 9600m GT. win7 x64. May be caused by Speedstep? (3) Frank K Abbott (#2841) has unstable playback / stuttering with CoreAVC. Not known whether it's a new problem or not. ATI Mobility 4570. XPSP3. 1080p60. (4) cyberbeing (#2848) has massive lag + occasional crash when switching between windowed and fullscreen. New problem with v0.13. NVidia 7800GTX. XPSP3. 1080p120. (5) 6233638 (#2857) has non-smooth playback when using Bicubic for chroma upsampling. New problem with v0.13. NVidia 9400M. Unknown OS. (6) iSeries (#2866) and dansrfe (#2867) have unwatchable stuttering. New problem with v0.13. iSeries: ATI 4550, win7. dansrfe: Unknown GPU and OS. Whenever you report a new problem, please always list the following information: (1) GPU. (2) OS. (3) Aero on/off. (4) Display resolution + refresh rate. (5) Single or multi monitor setup. A request to all madVR users: Could you please try to reproduce the problems listed above and report whether you can reproduce them or not? And when you do so, please list GPU, OS, Aero on/off etc. Doing that will help me finding out where the problems are coming from. Thanks! Last edited by madshi; 1st June 2010 at 10:30. |

7800GTX 512MB
Windows XP SP3 Crashed Happened when going from Fullscreen to Windowed using 1920x1080 @120Hz. It appeared to be caused by the massive lag. Still get massive lag (multi-second delay) when going Fullscreen to Windowed or Windowed to Fullscreen using 1600x1200 @96Hz. Single Monitor I believe this may be the same problem Leeperry has. |

8600GT 256MB
XP SP3 x64 1360x768@48Hz Single display (dual setup but switching) v0.12 brought me some problems with 3DLUT usage, with a big increase on rendering times, which led me to turn it off. I tested v0.13 yesterday and this seems to be solved. Probably it was the leaking memory problem. Now I have a new problem: the rendering times are too high. I only can watch a blu-ray movie using bilinear downsampling, any other algorithm is too much for my GPU. I think I might have to start thinking in buying a new graphics card... I also want to add that madVR has improved a lot over 0.11. Now we can pause a movie and step frame-by-frame very smoothly. Furthermore, the movie I saw yesterday was completely smooth, without any glitches. Good work! |

Also, if I'm running ForceWare 195.62 and have Aero disabled, I can't start up MadVR and the player will freeze (didn't check how long, or if it recovers). 9600M GT (Forceware 191.66), Windows 7 x64, Aero on, 1280x800x60, single. Last edited by namaiki; 1st June 2010 at 09:53. |

I have the same problem as 6233638. Problem happens when trying to play a 1280 x 720, 24 fps h.264 mp4 file.
1) ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4570 2) Windows XP SP3 3) Aero off (N/A) 4) 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz 5) Single Monitor setup 6) CoreAVC 2 7) ffdshow audio decoder 8) Haali Media Splitter |

madshi,
I have ATi and no CoreAVC, so I can only help with (2) and (6). I don't have a copy of 0.12 so I can't compare now, but after try out one 30fps file that I have, it stuttering with almost every scaling, so I don't think mind is the same as namaiki (but not too sure about that). For my regular 24fps material, as posted earlier, I only need to change chroma to Softcubic100 and have smooth playback for 720p. I do get some stuttering for 1080p, however. Info: (1) ATi 3870 with 512mb ram (2) Windows Server 2008 R2 (3) Aero on (4) 2560x1600 + 60Hz (madVR stat say ~59.80). (5) Single monitor setup.

By the way, I just recently discovered that I somehow get no stuttering on 0.13 when I lock my CPU at highest multiplier instead of Speedstep as usual.
edit: ^ After further checking, it doesn't. CPU usage is under ~40%. Last edited by namaiki; 1st June 2010 at 15:54. |

madVR's "Connection media type" from its input pin seems a bit odd now.
The horizontal sizes are being rounded up to either 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, or 4096. 1920x1080 video = 2048x1080 Connection media type. 1280x720 video = 2048x720 Connection media type. 848x480 video = 1024x480 Connection media type. 640x480 video = 1024x480 Connection media type. 480x270 video = 512x270 Connection media type. 240x180 video = 256x180 Connection media type. Since it appears to be purposeful, why was this change made? |

My setup:
GPU: ATI Radeon HD4850 OS: Win7 Ultimate x64 Player: one of the latests SVNs of MPC-HC (I'm not at home, and I can't remember the exact number). Tests made too with KMP. Decoder: CoreAVC 2.0 Aero: on Display resolution + refresh rate: 1920x1080@24/50/60 Hz (depending on source) Single or multi monitor setup: I've got 2 monitors connected to the card, but only one is enabled at the same time. At the moment, I haven't had any issues with madVR 0.13 (I had one with yCMS, but that's being discussed on it's own thread). |

I have watched my first stuff with madVR 013 and I love it... 25fps at 50hz... Zero stutters or tearing, 23.976fps at 23.972... Zero stutters or tearing. In madvr I have the anti trearing fix disabled, in reclock I have vsync correction enabled.
I did come across a small issue. It seems that reclcocks vsync correction does not work correctly on a secondary display unless you fully disable desktop composition. Simply disabling aero by disabling transparancies does not work (like it does with haali). You need to go control panel, system properties, advanded system settings, performance settings. Then uncheck the desktop composition box and apply (this is win7 btw). Is there any way the option in MPC-HC to disabled desktop composition can be used with madVR? Its currently greyed out when madVR is the renderer. If not the option added to madVR's render settings to disable it only while content is being played would be a real nice addition for us duel monitor users. From this point madVR is my default renderer, great work madshi! |

Though I don't really know what kind of advantage Haali's splitter gives... and madVR still shows wrong AR where others do it right. |
