Ups - I think I linked/uploaded the wrong file... here comes the right one:

@candela - I hope you're not getting bored

Please execute this next debug release: FindVUK 0.86.5 (removed link because already outdated)

The problem seems to be in the DriveInquiry section - now I've enhanced the logoutput in this section and also create a memdump of the inquiry result. Please post the logfile and the file 'MMC_DriveInquiry_MemDump.dmp' - thanks!

There's no change between 0.86.4 and 0.86.5. Same log and only MMC_MemDump.dmp with same MD5

@candela: I sent you a private message - I think it's better to continue the search for the error in private because I think it's of no interest for other users..

@Stereodude

Thanks for your really huge list of devices!

I noticed that my CRC32 calculation is not unique enough ..

because at the moment there are 2 identical drives with differences in the 'vendor specific' string, but identical CRC32

Will correct this with the next FindVUK release and convert all existing entries...
(next approach creates a CRC32 from the data 'VENDOR', 'PRODUCT-IDENT', 'REV', 'VENDOR SPECIFIC')

Oh, I've got more... They just weren't very handy to pop in a machine.

Another:

Okay, well I guess I have to partially recant. I should have more drives, but I can't seem to find them.

Code:

CRC algorithm doesn't guarantee much uniqueness. You better switch to something more reliable like SHA-1/2 or MD5 at least.

The Problem in this case is not the used method but that I made a mistake... the crc is created for the first 46 Bytes of the datablock, but in fact it should have been 56 Bytes... So the last 10 bytes of the vendor specific block are not used ... 😞

It was obtained with 0.86.3, will you need an update with 0.86.4?

@Stereodude
you already posted the drivespec for 8 drives - this is really a lot in my eyes And I thought my 3 drives are more than usual - but you're far beyond my count

@libredr
Thanks for your post!

There's no need to repost everything when the next release is available - I'm currently writing a small procedure to recalculate the CRC for the local drivelist - but finally nobody will notice the change (at least it's my intention to perform the conversion without any impact - it's my own fault that I have to do it... )
