Microsoft told me which interfaces I have to support, and I already did support them, but I found a bug in one of them. Anyway, can you guys please check whether AnyDVD is still needed? And if it is needed, is it also needed for EVR? I need to know this, because that would be one more thing I could ask the Microsoft guys, now that I have their attention. If I tell them now all is fixed, I don't want to get back at them later and ask another question.

Have you already applied the KB2709981 hotfix which went live on Windows Update a couple months ago?

I don't have encrypted DVDs but I tried 3 DVD discs without protection and it works! MPC-HC Lite + LAV Filters 0.52.0 + Microsoft DVD Navigator on Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

Edit:

I also got huge log file on my desktop, 247MB.

I never succeed to have DVD working with Madvr until now, even with the last version of LAV. But your test version has solved the issue on my windows seven 64 version (with regular MPC-HC), which is great!!

I tested the new dvd madvr version.

With anydvd active it is working now, but if I deactivate anydvd I get a Error in MPC-HC:

DVD: Fehler mit Kopierschutz.

If I change to EVR or Sync Renderer It it's working with anydvd deactivated.

Just tried with an encrypted DVD in the drive. With DVDPasskey enabled, it works, MPC-BE/LAV/madVR. Without DVDPasskey, it does not work.

Edit: Sorry, yes, EVR works either way (with or without DVDPasskey with the encrypted DVD).

Same problem. With Anydvd active the dvd loads, (But Media player classic gives me a strange error box "The parameter is incorrect)
but without anydvd active (Loading an encrypted dvd) I get a
"Dvd: Copy-protect fail" error

Sweet. Looks like you guys are on top of it. I'm having a problem building LAV right now so I'm glad others can test it. This is exciting though. madVR for DVD. Holy hell yea.

Brilliant, madVR DVD test build works!

I'm guessing that you'll turn off the automatic log file creation when the next build is finalized?

Thanks madshi, you rock!

Well, I can't see anything wrong in that log. Not sure if there's anything I can do make playback work without AnyDVD. Anyway, not such a big problem, I guess...

Not for me. Who the hell runs an HTPC without AnyDVD anyway? :P

Oooook...

Restored MS DVD Navigator, AnyDVD off (DVD: Copy-Protect Fail...this happened with the next three DVDs I tried)

Restored MS DVD Navigator, AnyDVD on (works)

Menus are kind of hit and miss though.

madVR v0.84.4 released

http://madshi.net/madVR.zip

Code:
* fixed: DVD playback often resulted in Macrovision errors
* improved Jinc AR algorithm for clean computer type images/videos
* added support for new subtitle interface (e.g. for future xy-vsfilter build)
Please note that madVR does not (yet?) support an extra input pin for subtitles and DVD menus. So if you want to have DVD menus fully working, you have to use a decoder which blends them on top of the video frames (e.g. LAV Video Decoder).

QUESTION: Which video decoder is used when playing DVDs with EVR *without* AnyDVD?

Microsoft is telling me that their best guess why madVR can't play encrypted DVDs without AnyDVD might be that the video decoder doesn't support decryption.

I should make LAV Video use the subtitle interface for those (it already does internally), except it just doesn't work so well for menus and interactive feedback on a still DVD menu image...
