Three problems I can't find solutions to...

Perhaps these are related, I do not know...

1. Following the gknot divx5 guide I try the Compressibility Test...it completes as evidenced by the "Finished" message in the preview window title bar, but no figures appear in the Bits/(Pixel*Frame) area where the guide shows they are supposed to.

2. I always get something similar to the following in my log:
Quote:
8:01:59 PM: Started DivX5-First Pass: C:\video_ts\musketeer.avs
9:53:14 PM: Finished DivX5-First Pass. Duration: 1 hour, 51 minutes, 15 seconds.
9:53:14 PM: Trying to open Log-file.
9:53:15 PM: Error: Could not open C:\video_ts\musketeer.log
9:53:15 PM: Error: Could not count encoded Frames.
9:53:15 PM: Speed: 0.000 Frames per Second.
9:53:15 PM: WARNING: Number of counted frames differs from settings!
9:53:15 PM: WARNING: Settings: 141523
9:53:15 PM: WARNING: Counted: 0
9:53:15 PM: WARNING: Difference: 141523
9:53:15 PM: Correcting Bitrate...
9:53:15 PM: Original Bitrate = 767 k(=1000)Bits/s
9:53:15 PM: ERROR: Correction impossible.
9:53:15 PM: Now encoding at 767 k(=1000)Bits/s
3. No matter how many times I work my way through the guide I can only come up with an avi of around 370 MB. This, in spite of the fact that the stats screen on the divx5 encoding tab shows a file size in excess of 1 GB. I usually have resolution set to 640x272 but as mentioned, this happens no matter what resolution settings I use nore what bitrate I try.

Any help is appreciated.

Whatever your PC is doing durring the 1 hour, 51 minutes, 15 seconds first pass it's not a divx5 first pass.

The most probable explanation for something like this is that you install the 0.21 full GKnot package after installing divx5, unfortunatly the 0.21 installer installs divx4 which overrides divx5.

Reinstalling divx5 will fix this.

2 things come to mind:
  1. Does the file C:\video_ts\musketeer.log exist?
  2. Have you tried renaming the directory to something else? I have a feeling that the underscore (the _ sign) might be a problem here. Just call it c:\foo\ or something and try again.

Try this...

I've had the same problem before, I resolved it by reinstalling gordian knot, and THEN reinstalling the DivX codec. For some reason it's the order on how things need to be installed. Hope this works for you, it has for me.
