Things have slowed down in this area, most probably because the people are using AnyDVD now and don't care this sometimes still cumbersome way. And if you have a patched drive it's quite tempting to omit the posting step . Thats the problem, if everything works automatic you don't see the keys so people who don't look behind the scenes don't know that there is something that may/should be posted.

Umm.. first of all, I know for a fact that AnyDVD HD works just fine, regardless of the drive.
Second, I have already given you the link to my instructions that explain in great detail how to recover the vid and vuk with any drive - and now thanks to Kend00's new dumpvid version this will also work for HD DVDs. And then you have one of the drives for which there's a volume id patch so there's not even any need for dumpvid. Since vuks are non revokable whereas processing keys can and are being revoked, having a vuk list is useful, but it is very easy to get your own keys... dumphd is even nice enough to fill the key database file automatically when you use it to rip a disk.. it really cannot get any better than that. Just refrain from playing any titles with new MKBs for which there's no processing keys yet (you can still play them with AnyDVD HD though) and with your setup there's absolutely zero need for keys - you'll be much more efficient just getting them on your own with the tools and instructions available here.

More to come from me soon, I finally got a new drive.

Oh and by the way, it's a GGW-H20L.

Please keep keys coming in

Whilst these keys are, at the moment, not needed in windows (due to AnyDVD HD etc) they can still be very useful in linux, especially as dumpvid does not always work for everyone due to timing and other issues.

Also, as kkloster21 pointed put in this post:

[QUOTE=kkloster21;1223037]@oldwally2: i think what KenD00 is saying about the different cryptographic components is that not every copy of a certain blu-ray movie that is sold has the same DiscID (obviously since your 2001: A Space Odyssey has a different DiscID then mine does). Each of these two DiscIDs (the one on your copy of 2001 and the one on my copy of 2001) cover a range of discs that were sold. in other words, if they sold one million blu-ray copies of 2001: A Space Odyssey in the US, maybe 400,000 of them have a DiscID that matches the one on my disc. And maybe 250,000 have a DiscID that matches the one on your disc (there may even be more DiscIDs than just these two for this particular movie). Note that these numbers are just randomly assigned for the sake of illustrating this example. The VUK that i posted will only work on the blu-ray copies of 2001: A Space Odyssey that have a DiscID that matches the DiscID on the copy that i bought. so you can see that posting the VUK here (while it may not be useful to you) could be useful to the other 399,999 people that bought the copy of 2001 that has the same DiscID as the disc i bought......"

a number of vuks exist for each blu-ray movie so if these keys can keep being posted it increases the chances of being able to play our blu-ray discs on the operating system of our choice, as we are undoubtedly legally entitled to do.

Cheers, oldwally2.

So far the only title I have not been able to read keys from using my firmware-modified GGC-H20L was The Dark Knight, however I was able to successfully rip it using AnyDVD HD, so I can definitely see people's preference for it. Where possible, however, I prefer to use DumpHD, so I'll keep posting keys as I get them - it's the least I can do in return for all the amazing work that has gone into the tools, resources and and raw effort that people have contributed here.

Cheers!
