maybe this problem is not related to the ATI driver and worth looking into it? |

Yep, that's what I was talking about. I still wonder why Hardware-acceleration is such a pain. It's a shame it is not as flexible as Software-acceleration (even though I can pretty much view every content in HD on my C2D), Hardware acceleration is just so much more Energy-efficient... I can watch a 1080p trailer @600mhz CPU Clock, with only 20% CPU-Usage through FFdshow AAC-Decoding.

@ Casimir,
you should try the combination of MPC MpegSplitter and ffdshow with VC-1 material... picture is completely currupted (pixelation). Works nicely when MPC MpegSplitter is replaced by Haali Media Splitter.

Hi,
Could I get some help with my problem? I just reinstalled Windows XP (32Bit Pro SP3 Corp) Now I installed FFDshow,AC3-filter, Haali Media Splitter and disabled all internal codecs of MPC-HC except DVD Video Title Set, DVD2AVI Project File and MPEG-2 Video. In the output menu I selected Directsho Video: VMR9 (renderless) Realmedia Video: DirectX 9 Quicktime Video: DirectX 9 I set the other settings to 3D surfaces Bilinear and I ticked the VMR9 mixed mode My problem: When I change the volume or press pause the blue quadrangle which says Pause or shows the volume. I also get the error "could not load this shader (16-235 -> 0-255)" How can I fix this? Thanks in advance -edit- After a Direct X update everything works again Last edited by bmnot; 23rd July 2008 at 22:11. |

To get pixelshaders working:
1) Install the latest version of DirectX. 2) Go to Options->Playback->Output and check "Use texture surfaces and render video in 3D".

Pixelshaders not working with multimonitor configuration (test on Nvidia and Ati, XP and Vista) - when shaders on(any of them) and try move MPC-HC window from one monitor to other - playback stop, black screen and high cpu load ...

Well done! However I've found something else: MPC-HC fails to play this stream: http://www.nasa.gov/ram/35037main_portal.ram While the 'standard' MPC has no problem for playing it. Both players are using the internal filters. Real Alternative is installed. EDIT: It might be because of the 'Linux text format' used into this .RAM file. There is only a 0A (LF) at the end of the lines whilst the Windows standard is 0D 0A (CR+LF). Standard MPC can deal with it but MPC-HC doesn't. Last edited by Brazil2; 24th July 2008 at 02:12. |

Hi,
The pixelshaders are working fine on my 8600gts in dual view configuration. But i don't move the window before or after starting the playback. Instead, as recommended here in this thread, I created a link on my desktop using the cli parameters "...\mplayerc.exe /monitor 2 /d3dfs". Then I just drag&drop the media file on this icon, which opens the video in anti tearing mode directly on my HDTV. After that, I use nvidias nview option to move the main window back to the first monitor, while the fullscreen video remains on the HDTV. This method works fine at all. The only thing I can't follow is that I need to use the 16-235 -> 0-255 shader on my HDTV ( it's a Samsung LE-37A558 ), if I use the vmr9. I would have expected that even a HDTV should use the TV color scale and not the PC scale. C.U. NanoBot |

Try see later what wrong. P.S. - here solution for you, need change render for this file from DirectShow to RealMedia : Goto Option->Formats, find filetype "Real Media File (rm, ram ...)" and right you see render type, on default it's DirectShow, do Mouse double click - see ComboBox, select RealMedia. VMR9 does not know or care about what kind of monitor is connected to it.

You'd probably have to destroy the rendering context and create a new one on the new monitor, and that still doesn't solve the problem with a window split between two monitors. np: Spooky - Schmoo (Gargantuan)

For some reason by default this setting is set to RealMedia in 'standard' MPC but it's set to DirectShow in MPC-HC. So I've set both Real Media and Real Audio to RealMedia and everything is working as expected now |

You can find problematic samples here: http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?...postcount=2327 Samples 1 & 4 fixed with the 11+ ref frames fix for Vista. Sample 3 has 16 refs, in rev586 the player detects this and changes to software mode playing the video perfectly. In newer revs the 11+ ref frames limit is removed, so MPC tries to use DXVA with the file. The card is not compatible with 16 refs, so the video freezes after a second or so. There are lots of anime encoded with 16 ref frames, all of those files fail. The solution is simple: rev586 is perfect. Samples 2, 5 & 6 don't play fine in any revision. |

I just downloaded Sample 6 out of curiousity and it plays fine for me. I can't seem to be able to skip around but it plays smooth and clear. Try using the VMR9 renderer, with the 3d surfaces option enabled, to get the playback I just did. EDIT: With the Haali Renderer, it plays just as well, but now I can skip around effortlessly.
I just downloaded Sample 2 as well and there's definitely a problem there with my earlier VMR9 setting. It plays, but every 3 seconds, the video pauses and resumes. It's very annoying. However, with the Haali renderer, it plays perfectly. Sample 5 plays the exact same way as sample 2 does. It pauses repeatedly, but with the Haali Renderer, playback is perfect. This is all with r681 using an Nvidia 8400GS Last edited by neoufo51; 25th July 2008 at 06:01. |

@neoufo51
Ofcourse they play for you, since you are NOT using DXVA! Haali renderer doesn't support it anyway. STaRGaZeR talks about DXVA problems.
