Why buy Vista now, it's so yesterday?
But yes I'm on Vista now, stupid ASUS can't release a working set of Windows 7 Xonar driver, I haven't tested their latest beta though but I doubt it works now. |

I tried running MPC rev 1301 (and several earlier builds) on an Asus Eee PC 1101HA (Z520+GMA500) with Windows XP, but when using h264+DXVA, I get an instant BSOD. Using MPC-HC with PDVD 9 (DXVA enabled) and an h264, no problems (except for some stuttering). Seems MPC-HC is feeding the GMA500 something it doesn't like when using DXVA.
Also, does anyone have some tips to improve playback performance on the Asus Eee PC? I can get about 20fps max with an L4.1 2Mbps H264, but it seems that playback performance is not so much hampered by the GMA500 (no blockiness or artefacts) but by the display renderer (VMR9 renderless in my case) and the MPC-HC UI. Especially the latter seems very heavy. I know subs are heavy, but using the right mouse menu during playback causes major framedrops. Same goes for Display stats, not usable. |

Forget DXVA for now.. Just use some multithreaded filter with default settings and it's pretty much the same thing, unless you're actually experiencing performance related issues when playing certain H.264 encoded videos.

i find that strange seeing that haali is very cpu intensive when compared to renderers like overlay

EVR-CP all default settings appears to work perfectly for me with a core 2 duo 1.6 GHz + intel 965 For me Haali's Renderer is better performing on XP and EVR-CP is better performing on Vista and up. Last edited by namaiki; 22nd October 2009 at 08:35. |

Is there any way to manually load an external audio track when playing a file? Like how you can load external subtitles from the menu or with Ctrl+L.
Because the LPCM mono bug hasn't been fixed (and seems to be more or less buried and forgotten in bug report hell) I can't play any of my Criterion Blu-rays. However then I thought of the brilliant idea that I could demux the mono tracks, do a simple conversion to stereo (dual mono), and then load them as external audio tracks while playing the .m2ts files from the Blu-rays. But then I came upon the above problem, that I can't seem to find any way to load them in MPC-HC unless they are in the same folder, which is of course impossible since the video is on disc. Can anyone think of a solution (maybe some command line arguments?) that doesn't involve copying the 30+ gig movie files to my hard drive? Last edited by Piyoko; 22nd October 2009 at 20:18. |
