Please clear up some menu aspect ratio problems for me...

Greetings,

I'm attempting to create a motion menu from some clips of the main movie. The movie itself is 16:9 and I want a 4:3 menu, so I got all of my clips ready, resized them to 720x400 (uncropped) and added 40px borders on top and bottom. This gave me what I thought was 4:3 letterboxxed footage... So I took my 720x480 AVI file, encoded with CCE with a 4:3 DAR, applied a pulldown, and imported into Maestro. In DVD Maestro, I made sure the menu had a 4x3 aspect selected, but after I author the project, and play the files in WinDVD, the aspect ratio is clearly incorrect... am I resizing to the wrong dimensions?

Thanks for all and any assistance.

Let's see if I got this - you're using clips from a 16:9 anamorphic NTSC to make a 4:3 menu? In that case resize to 720x360 (3/4 vertical) and add 60 lines top and bottom. Or, for a P/S type menu crop to 540x480 and resize to 720x480.
