Would be nice to be able to run realanime on command line, since there is a lot of server that dont have a GUI interface and instead of using "seti@home" to use idle process

/me is trying to figure out why running realanime on commandline would be good....since it's simply a gui that generates other programs command lines.

the best utility to have this, is to run it on a server without gui and use unused process. I have access to few linux server and its good computer (4 dual opteron 248 with 2gb ram and 3 dual opteron 252 with 2 gb ram and less powerfull computers) this power processing could be used properly, and theses server have no gui and i dont intend to install one on them.

it still doesn't make sense....... why not simply use the command lines of the individual programs (x264, xvid_encraw, audio encoders). The only thing real anime does is the GUI, it doesn't actually encode or process anything.

linux users are much more "addicted" to scripts and commandlines

haha, ubuntu is a "windows-like" system ... but if the soft is developped on X (kde or gnome) it could work on mac to.

I only suggest to have a client on linux that support command line input (if you create all your configuration on a gui, like realanime, save the file and send it to your client on linux as a comand line) the gui is still useful to create the files that you want to encode and set up all your settings for the command line binary.

hum.... we could do some RA6 CLI that wait for commands via TCP Conenctions. a GUI somewhwere connects to those CLI and send encoding jobs. I always wanted to have that

Even though I am a Windows platform user, I am in favor in making RealAnime a cross platform program if that is not too much of a burden adding to your current hobbies...

At least someone here must be interested and having a Linux platform for RA to use on. Coz if no one is going to use Linux-RA5, making one will be useless... Unless you really want to make one for self-achievement!

Maybe you need to make a poll or advertisement of it on your website eh? We might get more attention and comments from non-forumers of doom like me before.

whatever happens, next realanime, i.e. RealAnime 6 will work on Linux and Windows, using:

FreePascal (Lazarus)
mencoder / mplayer
enhAacPlusEnc
MP4Box / mkvtoolnix

no more ffdshow, avisynth, external codecs

that is IF I drop RA5 someday and make RA6

so a new set of tools different from the current windows version... Maybe when the time for RA6 comes those tools will be replaced by better ones also. Too much planning for the future huh? I dunno if its too much to get excited this early...

the new set of tools works on win32 and linux, so it's a good thing. Overal I think I can have all the features of RA5 in RA6, and more!

You lose avisynth. I wouldn't call that more.

mencoder has plenty of filters...

as usual, if you are not happy, you can freely go away
