Can you please explain what "Multi Episodes DVD" does?
I have some Aeon Flux DVD's - 1PGC with all 5 episodes, 1PGC with only the episodes with audio comment(4), and 5PGC's with individual episodes.
How would I use "Multi Episodes DVD"?
Thank you

That's a matter of individual preference, but visual comparison should be done at equal bitrates (equal file size) for a fair comparison. Means when using psy you might have to increase crf slightly for obtaining the same file size. I often use psy 0.7:0.2.

@pdanpdan

mean more pgc per ifo

if your first pgc is an episodes, check it
if your first pgc is main movie, don't check it
if your pgc X is main movie, don't check it
if your pgc X is episodes, check it

basically : whenever you have to deal with more then one pgc AND no one is the "main" but each one is an episodes, check multi episodes

@Acid-Burn

check the crop AND the Movie AR, even if your dvd should be 2.35 it could be a little more wide

@Sharc

that's a another beauty of HDC, every one could edit the profiles

(and share with others)

Is there an easy way to enable shutdown when an encode is already running?
Will it be ok when I add to the queue manually
shutdown -s -t 2 -f ?

With the new version AR and Xvid processing works fine. As per your suggestion to keep best quality chose NeroAAC, 0.4, Audio channels original, vbr - hope got this right. Source was 5.1 but it still came out with stereo?
thanks

Hey Buzz, really like the operation of HDC now, and really want to use it, but it keeps letting me down..

Most of the time when I use it to encode a DVD, the results are nice video with out of sync audio.. Seems it just can't wait to start the soundtrack and therefore the sync is way off. Is it something I'm doing wrong? When this happens, I redo it with AutoMKV and it works perfect. I always copy the audio whenever possible.

On a positive note, I sometimes run across a DVD with Mpeg1 audio, and AutoMKV refuses to work with it. HDC however will, using Coding Tech AAC to reencode the audio track.

Puzzling why I'm getting such mixed results trying to encode with HDC, I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks

Rick

Small bug report. When changing the Audio encode settings for a Nero AAC encode, and I have modified the bitrate to, say, 256, if i change the channels from 2 to original the bitrate jumps back to 64.

Oh, and I am working on a tutorial for converting bluray's with HDC. Hope to have it out by Friday night.

@buzzqw
The overhead for .m2ts is still too low which may result in oversize.
I had 2 cases now with 8% overhead (1 video+2 ac3 audio copy+2 subs). I suggest you should change it accordingly.
m2ts is not very efficient in this respect.

make sure in ffdshow audio decoder you set the audio out to not downmixing

audio bit change when you change "Bitrate Management" or "Audio codec" , it' don't change on channels

And thanks for the guide!

This avi has Ac3 audio for this movie which I think is decoded by Ac3 filter. I changed ffdshow settings to change default codec to be liba52 and it worked. Which one is better liba52 or libavcodec?
thanks

I try to encode DVD to x264 in mp4 with version 1.7 and want to share my impressions.
1. AutoResize doesn't correlate with selected video size
2. Status of AVS scripts is not checked (see p.3)
3. I used FFT3DFilter and got: FFT3DFilter: Can not load FFTW3.dll! E:\temp\hdconverttox_vts_01_1.avs, line 86
4. There are no ability to auto shutdown PC via GUI after encoding finished

#HDConvertToX Avisynth Script
#
#Input File = e:\video\concerts\kipelov -2005\video_ts\vts_01_1.vob
#Original Resolution = 720x576
#Aspect Ratio = 1.3334
#Frame rate =25.000
#Number of Frames = 114475
#Lenght (hour:minutes:seconds) = 1:16:20
#Display Aspect Ratio = 1.4385
#Aspect Error = 0.2070
#
#Resized resolution = 712 / 496
#Crop Left = 6
#Crop Top = 24
#Crop Right = 2
#Crop Bottom = 24
#

exist("E:\temp\telecine") ? tfm(last,d2v="E:\temp\movie.d2v").tdecimate() : nop()
#Applying Resizing
LanczosResize(712,496,6,24,-2,-24)

#Insert Filters As Requested
ColorMatrix(d2v="E:\temp\movie.d2v")

FFT3DFilter(sigma=2.5, sharpen=0.3)
}
catch (err) {

You see that "try...catch" block right in your script? That's the checking mechanism. In order to properly use FFT3DFilter, Libfftw3.dll ( think is what it's called) has to be placed in you system32 folder. That should fix your error.

What exactly do you mean by this? Can you reiterate?
