anyway of removing licenses from a asf file ?

not sure if this is in the correct topic but here goes

got a few asf files on my h-drive , but when i play these it says aquiring license , license aquired etc , if i try play on a friends comp it asks for a username / pass ( to the site i got em from ) so im presuming if i cancel my membership i cant watch these files anymore

is there anyway to remove these licenses , by either cutting the files or converting em ?

if anyone wants a sample of one of these files to work with PM me

cheers for any help

You could try to render them using AVISynth and open it in VDub...

Did you try either Sirber's or mf's suggestions? If so, what were the results?

You could try playing the file in Media Player Classic and see if you can use GraphEdit to 'Connect to Remote Graph'. But, I suspect that since the DRM would be enabled on this file, you would not be able to connect it.

u suspect correctly , the file will only play in windows media 9

the only way i can see of keepin these films is outpit to my standalone dvd recorder and copy them this way , seems a shame theres not a better way to do this

asf problems

Have you tried Virtualdub v1.3C? If you have the correct filters installed, you should be able to open the file and re-encode it with the codec of your choice. good luck
