Dual layer support - Pioneer Firmware upgrade??
Hi!
A friend of mine just told me he spoke to an engineer of a well known brand (not Pioneer ) about what would happen to current customers buying a Pioneer single layer DVDR drive... The guy told him he's not 100% sure, but he "feels" a firmware upgrade would allow the drive to actually burn dual layer DVDRs in a near future. Do you guys think this can be physically possible or is it just a legend? If you recall, some CD burners were "software upgradeable", going from a 12x burning speed to a 24x burning speed with just a firmware update. What do you think of this? Thanks! |

It doesn't sound possible to me. 12x to 24x CD recording is the same process, only faster. another layer of dvd recording sounds like something the product wasn't designed for. But don't listen to me as I know almost nothing about the technology
