Compression problem

I swear, these prblems never end for me...

So, after a lot of posts (not here)and a lot of trial and error, I figured out a way to sync up my audio and video on those problem vob files. Now I have a new problem.

When I encode avi's from vob files, I use VirtualDub 1.5.10, DivX Pro 5.2.1, with a 1850 bitrate at 720x480. I am usually very happy with my output files.

After installing AviSynth 2.5 (to sync the audio/video, long story), now my output files generated straight from vob files are less than expected. They are blocky, with just apparently bad compression. I'm not sure if the new prog is the problem, as I have just recently done a re-install of XP Pro, as well as all my progs.

This annoys me to no end it seems.

As always, any help will be appreciated.

Much love!
