no.. it's purely fixes in the audio department for amd cpus (it's still buggy and still way inferior to toolame so deactivate audio in cce always).

Dude what are you talking about? I have been doing 2GB+ (more in the area of 20+ GB) files with 2.5 for months! Just started an encode this morning from a 37 GB capture....

Are those avi files or what? Because last time I checked, the filesize limit for normal avi files is 2 gb. Unless your using OpenDML, in which case I think you can go up to 4gb. And then there's also the filesize restriction that the Windows itself imposes on ALL files due to the FAT filesystem it uses. If you are not encoding avi files, you need to read closer. Yakumo specifically said "avi files" in his/her reply. |

Yes, I'm using Win9x.
Just wondering, does the avi filesize limit of 2 gb apply in WinNT, or is that just a Win9x thing? To the best of my understanding, the 2 gb thing is related to the avi specifications, but I'm not too sure about that. |

"the Windows itself imposes (a 2GB limit) on ALL files due to the FAT filesystem it uses"
No, no, no! Windows imposes no file sizes...the file sizes are determined by the file system (like you have stated here)...NOT Windows! "does the avi filesize limit of 2 gb apply in WinNT, or is that just a Win9x thing?" Windows 2000 or NT 4.0 - NTFS or Fat 32 Windows 95, 98, & 98 SE - Fat 32 ONLY NTFS - ~200GB (or something more than you'll ever need) FAT32 - 2GB So yes, if you use win9x, you will be limited to 2GB...but why??? Just upgrade! I have never joined an AVI in my life....and I don't plan to now! I have a WinTV card (very common old bt 848 chipset) with 2000 drivers loaded and VDub gives me great quality and no problems.... so basically I would recommend going to Windows 2000 - I crash less in 2000 dealing with 30GB files than I did with 50MB files in 98...and NTFS utilizes size better and takes half the time to defrag...so I don't understand people holding on to Windows 98 (that is of course uless your card isn't supported....) Sorry if this comes off as me being a dick but I have had a few and just got out of class with a prof who can only be described as a speech nazi.....

If it's only file size than I can put up with using avisynth to join up separate avi files. Whilst I'm using avisynth then I get the possibilities of different source types, high quality resize, deinterlace and ivtc.
But I would like all this to be supported natively by CCE so that I can just drop my files into cce and set up common templates and hit go. Oh for Utopia... |

Sorry, I just associated Windows with the filesystem. I didn't mean that Windows itself restricts the filesizes, but the filesystem it uses. |

And just to stick my nose in...
I *have* run into the 2 GB avi file size limit in CCE 2.5 on NTFS. I have to frame serve via vDub or AviSynth in order to encode captures longer than about 8 minutes (with Huffy codec). |
