Playback problems (Win2k + Hollywood+)

This is going to be a rather long post, so excuse me in advance ...

Since I bought a Hollywood+ add-in card, I have never succeeded into watching DVD movies either with the included DVD player (REALStation)or with Eugene's one.
But suprisingly enough, there's no problem when I try watchin' a DVD with a software player like PowerDVD.

Here are the specs of my system :
Asus CUSL2 mobo
Intel P3 800E
512 Mo SDRAM PC133
Adaptec 2940 UW SCSI adapter
SBLive! Platinum soundcard
Creative Labs DTT2500 speakers
Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD Drive (RPC2)
Plextor 12/10/32 SCSI burner
Intel Pro 100B network adapter
IBM 120XP 80 Gb hard drive
French version of Win2k

There are no IRQ conflicts.

All peripherals are installed with the latest drivers/bioses available and I must add that I never tried any hacks for the H+ like those added in Eugene's player or available via DVD Genie.
I also disable CTFMON.exe (otherwise hardware players can't start).

But when I try reading a RPC2 movie (I don't have any RPC1 movie), the hardware players (REALStation player or Eugene's) stop reading after 5 seconds and the system eventually crashes.

What worries me is that there's no problem with a 100% software solution like PowerDVD.

Does someone know if my problems is due to the current beta state of the drivers or to a bug in hardware players ?

Thanks to those that will help me find a solution.

You may not wanna hear this but anytime you ever get new hardware, the best thing to do is reinstall from scratch. No upgrading! Anyway, this is what I would try.

Just installed my H+ a few hours ago and I'm experiencing the exact same problems. Initially I thought it might have something to do with my DVD-ROM drive (Pioneer 16x hacked RPC-1) but even a Daemon-mounted ISO hangs frequently.

I'm on Win2K SP2 with the latest beta drivers for the H+.

Problem solved.

I downgraded to 2.2 for both the driver and the player, and everything seems to work just fine now. Seems that you can't mix and match the two between different versions.
