The One - Special Edition [Region 1] WideScreen or FullScreen
Courtesy of 2CL

Tools I used
IFOedit 0.95
DVD Decrypter in File Mode and selecting certain files

Title Information
Title 1: VTS_01 contains your WideScreen movie
A value of 41321 in GPreg<0> plays your WideScreen movie.

Title 2: VTS_04 contains your FullScreen movie
A value of 41987 in GPreg<0> plays your FullScreen movie.

1. Create a folder named “The One” and a subfolder named “Files”.
__________________________________________________________
2. Rip the following files for your desired aspect ratio to your “The One”folder.
  • WIDESCREEN: Rip all files except VTS_04_1.VOB to VTS_04_3.VOB
FULLSCREEN: Rip all files except VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_3.VOB
__________________________________________________________
3. Region Free every IFO and save commands if Region Code Encoding (RCE) is detected. I do this out of habit especially if I decided to use SmartRipper instead.

4. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO with IFOedit and press “Get VTS Sectors” buttons to load other IFOs.
__________________________________________________________
5. Bypass Unwanted Stuff

In VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMG Overview / Language Menu Unit 1, do a Delete Playback on the following menus. Select and press your Delete Playback button. If successful, your number of Programs and Cells should be zero and (uses VOB-IDs: #) should disappear.

Language Menu Unit 1: [English]
Menu 1: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 1) Columbia Tristar Logo
Menu 2: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 2) Rated PG-13 Movie Rating
Menu 3: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 3) FBI Warning
Menu 4: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 4) FBI Warning
Menu 5: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 5) Format Modified Note
Menu 6: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 6) Format Modified Note

6. Save VIDEO_TS.IFO
__________________________________________________________
7. Select your aspect ratio preference.
  • WIDESCREEN: Proceed to next step.
    FULLSCREEN: Go to step 12.

WIDESCREEN

8. Bypassing the Aspect Ratio Menu

Go to VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_1 / PGC Command Table. We need to add a new Pre Command. Right click on any Pre Command and select “Add PreCommand”. Now double click on our new Pre Command, NOP, and enter new hex value as below.

OLD > 3.Pre Command...NOP.................................[00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00]
NEW > 3.Pre Command...Set GPreg<0> mov (set-val)<41321>...[71 00 00 00 a1 69 00 00]

Details: In your aspect ratio menu which displayed before the main menu, if you selected Wide Screen, it would set the value of GPreg<0> to 41321. I decided to set it before the aspect ratio selection menu popped up. With this being set, following commands prior to main menu has detected Gpreg<0>'s value and your Aspect Ratio menu does not display now, which is what we want.

9. Save VIDEO_TS.IFO
__________________________________________________________
10. Get VTS Sectors
__________________________________________________________
11. Press DVDPlay button to preview and test. Test also in PowerDVD or WinDVD if you got it.

That’s it for WideScreen. Burn what works for you.

12. Bypassing the Aspect Ratio Menu

OLD > 3.Pre Command...NOP.................................[00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00]
NEW > 3.Pre Command...Set GPreg<0> mov (set-val)<41987>...[71 00 00 00 a4 03 00 00]

Details: In your aspect ratio menu which displayed before the main menu, if you selected Full Screen, it would set the value of GPreg<0> to 41987. I decided to set it before the aspect ratio selection menu popped up. With this being set, following commands prior to main menu has detected Gpreg<0>'s value and your Aspect Ratio menu does not display now, which is what we want.
