Filter for removing videogame hud

I'm searching for a filter that would allow me to remove the hud from videogame footage for some machinima I'm making. Does anyone know how this might be done? I've attached two samples. As things are with game huds, they're not static. On the other hand, it is somewhat translucent so maybe there's a way?

Any assistance or just a "can't be done" would be welcome.

If there isn't any option in the Options menu to do so, I doubt you can. You can try Gameshark codes but that is a long shot. Masking it with another image or cropping your footage more seem to be your likely solutions.
