High color depth / resolution support?

I am sorry if this has been answered before, but it is not easy to search for without getting too many unmatching results...

Is it ever planned for AviSynth to support more than 8 bits per RGB / YUV channel?

One of our german-speaking members is looking for any tool to edit 10 bit quantized digital video formats. Of course the question escalated towards any future version of AviSynth...

There is some movement forward on Avisynth 2.6 which will probably support higher precision framebuffer formats but someone would still have to add support to at least the internal filters which AFAIK no one is presently planning to do.

None of the major open source video filtering software (avisynth, virtualdub, gstreamer, MLT and I guess avfilter thought it's in development limbo) aim for support of higher precision at the moment.

Alright - so we will remember this issue as "postponed". Thank you.
