HD Youtube saved videos are not recognized in ffdshow
Whenever I download a HD video in Youtube as an MP4 file with Downloadhelper, it refuses to play on Media Player Classic through FFdshow. When I use CoreAVC a warning appears that it cannot find the codec, thus only the audio plays, while when I use ffdshow's decoder a blank screen appears instead with no info about the video.
No problem with Mplayer based players though. in MPC a message like this appears, regardless of HD video type. Has it to do with the frame rate or the way Downloadhelper converts and saves the videos? I have done the same exact thing, and it works fine here. Make sure that your builds of Media Player Classic Home Cinema and FFDShow are up to date with the latest versions. Also, you say Download Helper converts the videos. Why do that? The native HD Youtube format works just fine in MPCHC here.

My mistake. The plugin downloads the videos as MP4 files, so no conversion. OK. I had K-Lite codec pack so I removed it and installed just MPC, Haali and ffdshow and problem solved. Seems it was an MP4 splitter issue. Because with FLV HD files there was not any problem.
But I prefer the MPlayer. Somehow MP4 HD videos are lagging in ffdshow, even with CoreAVC. Not sync problems, just frameskipping. Playback in Mplayer is more smooth. Probably because the build I have is processor optimized (AMD Athlon). thanks Last edited by petran79; 5th May 2009 at 11:01. |
