hi guys
I have this problem. When i play movie with dxva, movie info: "Codec profile: High@L4.1 and Codec_Settings_RefFrames: 4" i have great picture, everythings fine but when movie has "Codec_Settings_RefFrames: 5" i have artifacts: so... where is the catch? i have 8600gt, win vista, dxva works fine, latest ForceWare. Problem appears in every MPC HC revision. Also with codec from Cyberlink. Its very annoying ;/ |

I've encountered a strange problem which I can't solve.
I've been using MPC-HC for a while now. H.264 playback using DXVA worked fine with my HD3870 and EVR custom presenter. I configured MPC to store settings in an .ini file. This week I did a clean install of Windows Vista (old one was borked), and now H.264 movies won't play at all if I select either EVR or EVR custom presenter as output. When opening a file, MPC immediately changes to the "Stopped" state, without displaying a single frame of the movie. Hitting the play button on the OSD has no effect, neither does using the keyboard. It simply doesn't do anything. It works fine with VMR9 and Haali's Video Renderer, but of course those don't make use of DXVA. Any idea what might be causing this? Is there a way to test EVR output with another tool? I'm at a loss here. |

After testing some builds, it seems r514 is the latest working version with DXVA for me. 522 works, but just because it doesn't enable DXVA. Anything newer than r522, and playback won't start, just black screen and 00:00 (unless I disable DXVA, but that is pointless).

Dragging a H.264 file (.mkv) to the program prompted me to use ffdshow, which I ok'ed. But it shows it as "unsupported". I'm using the latest ATi Catalyst driver 8.6 and I'm pretty sure I had this one on my previous Vista installation as well. Last edited by KyleK; 7th July 2008 at 00:49. |
